Cook: Chambers and Skuse Both Still Have Football in Them
What ever happens to Messers Chambers and Skuse I hope the good folk of TWTD just remember what Paul Cook has said.
During the next few days, it is important that we all act with dignity and forget the past and look forward to the future.
Former Winger Brogan Dies
Was a very good penalty taker - along with a certain Mr Wark the best we ever had.
Cook Backs Social Media Boycott
This would be a good time for all of us to take a step back, think about ourselves and how we could and should be more understanding, tolerant and decent towards all our fellow human beings. Let us all be kinder to one another, regardless of race, creed, politics and whatever football team we support.
We can all do better.
Cook: That Tells Me You Don’t Care About the Result
I remember managers who (MM was one) say that you must not get too high when you win, nor too low when you lose. I am on Cooks side at the moment, but saying that he will not criticise the players, then doing just that is rather concerning.
Our players collectively are not good enough, we know that, but no wonder the performances of late have been worse than before, working under those conditions; and no this is me defending the players as a group, just saying the working conditions have been made worse. Only time will tell if this will work - let's hope so.
Ward: We Have to Be Really Positive and Believe We Can Make Play-Offs
If you are so fed up reading what the players say, then why bother to read it. Doing something you do not like voluntarily says more about you than it does about them.
Try and grasp that they HAVE to do these interviews; I guess they don't particularly like giving them as much as we don't need them. We are all upset, angry etc about our team, but let's try and maintain some dignity.
Cook: Very, Very Exciting Times Ahead Under Fantastic New Owners
Please though let us all remember Cook asking for positive energy from all of us - he even mentioned social media. We can play a part, so let's just do it. To ask us to keep positive for the last few games is not a great deal to request.
We have new owners, a new manager and a new optimism. We have though the same squad of players, who as we all know are not as good as we would like them to be; however let's leave the sniping for a few weeks and try and divert as much positive energy as possible to the team. So wish I could be at Wimbledon (another new ground) tomorrow evening.
Judge: I Think It’s Just That Bit of Confidence
Ipswichbusiness - let us agree on one thing; the display on Monday was awful, just when there was still a glimmer of hope of making the play offs.
However this continual griping of Chambers is now way over the top. Our defence has been superb this and last season considering the pressure it is always under. Our inability to create and score goals has been our problem for a long, long time now and yet it is Chambers that continually gets the stick. Imagine for one moment that he had made the error that lead to Bristol Rovers goal and not Dozzell, it would have been unremitting.
There is nothing wrong with our defence of which he is part. Is he coming to the end of his career, yes; does he deserve the stick he gets so often, no.
Now which bit if this do you not understand - we have one of the best defences in the division and possibly the worst set of attacking players.
Gamechanger Lodge New Land Registry Priority Searches
I believe, like many failed wealthy businessmen before him (Alan Sugar, Barry Hearn) he expected that running ITFC would be easier than it has turned out to be. He has made many mistakes the largest being not appointing a first class director of football, rather than the likes of Clegg, Milne etc. I have never doubted that it would be in all interests if he were to move on. I do though genuinely belief he cares for the club and its future and he would like to safeguard that as much as he can. I am sorry if you disagree with that opinion and my reasoning.
We all want the same; a secure future for our club and a successful team; they come hand in hand.
Gamechanger Lodge New Land Registry Priority Searches
What ever is said about Mr Evans it is my belief that he will only sell when certain guarantees are made towards the future security and ownership of ITFC. This is nothing to do with team performance or what league we are in but we do not want to emulate the type of new ownership which has put other clubs in peril. Once those assurances are made (of course value and legal 'bits' are also important) then i think a deal might be done.
If those assurances are not made it will be a dead duck.
Cook: We Need to Be So Much Better Than That
Please all of you on here and the forum listen to the guy and trust him. Your stories this week and about the takeover have been at times misleading. Our players are going through a tough time and that allied with the fact that some are not good enough, makes us what we are. Do you know the criticism these last couple of years is mostly directed at players who have held us together - without our resolute defence where would we be. ALL our players forward of the back four should be concerned at our lack of goals. Watch the games and you will see that Cook is correct - they are all looking for someone else to provide the spark.
Paul Cook is an honest man and what he sees is what I see. We have a few (only a few) players that would benefit and play better for a move. We have to make sure that we can get that out of them here.
I am as frustrated as anyone, but this man knows his stuff and deserves the media and us supporters on his side. Bloody football hey, why do we take it so seriously.
Norwood Back For Pompey Trip, Hawkins Closing in on Return
“The problem when you don’t win football games is that everybody who is not playing becomes a better player,” he said.
We could all learn from that statement; what a good one to make. None of our players are going to change things on their own; we just need everyone fit enabling PC to get a squad of say 18 players together to see this season to a conclusion, hopefully successfully!
Vincent-Young Finally Returns to Squad at Portsmouth
All I ask is that we try and keep a lid on our expectancy of KVY. We often go overboard with our younger players then criticise when there form dips (Kenlock a good example). This man has only ever played nine times I believe for ITFC, albeit all decent performances.
We need to give him time and patience.
Parrott to Miss Wigan Trip Following Ireland Call
Troy Parrot has a good career ahead of him. I guess he is the youngest in our squad (or very close!) and needs patience, good coaching. He possibly is in the wrong team at the wrong time with us, but the experience will be invaluable. Pity he is not one of our own!
Cook: To Play For This Club, You Have to Carry a Little Bit More Weight on Your Shoulders
Well tonight we were taken to the cleaners, so yes give 'em a go. I am very rarely openly critical, but tonight we were fortunate to get nil!
The only good thing to come out of this is that this could and should be the turning point. Remember this date - it could be we have reached a pivotal moment.
Thank you Mr Cook for your honest and forthright appraisal. From now on there will be no hiding place.
Cook Delighted For Players After First Town Win
I just love winning football - we are all a tad hypocritical though; imagine the furore if Lambert or MM had taken of Parrot and Jackson to be replaced by Drinan and Skuse whilst leading 1-0. If you win nothing else matters. A happy Saturday evening to you all!
