A reasonable point...Southampton reduced to minimal attempts on goal second half whilst I thought we had the majority of them though not guilt edged chances other than Szmodics chance.
We just need to be a bit more clinical, better intensity today but sadly the defence still adverse to mass ball watching on crosses. I'd just give MOTM to Hirst simply for his work ethic and link up play.
Have to start winning which we haven't done in a long time... |

Doesn't seem like any deal/transfer we've been involved with this summer has been 'smooth' - always a hitch, delay or player not that interested in coming here.
With both Hutchinson and Broadhead now gone alongside Morsy/Burgess and Delap we still need a couple of decent signings, another in midfield for sure. |

Feel a bit sorry for Nathan as a few others have mentioned probably should have been starting more regularly over players that just haven't delivered.
Saying that £10M for him with a year left on his contract is good business by Ashton, all the best Nathan for the rest of your career. |

No cohesion, no quality or decent patterns of play...it all feels very huff and puff, it really feels like we're trying to get back to League one as soon as possible.
We really need a midfield general now Morsy has gone to sit in the middle of the park and orchestrate things and to win the ball back which we were very poor at tonight once we turned the ball over...
Even if we get new recruits McK has a lot of work to do get us going again, probably this could his most difficult time at the club. |

Looks like he has a good pass on him but like a few others this club has brought through needs to beef up a bit...if he wants to make it to the highest level, you don't see too many waifish footballers in the premiership.

I think if Philogene was fit enough to play last night he soon would have picked up another injury or agitated the previous one...that game was quite physical last night and he would have been a rabbit in the headlights.
I have my doubts that Taylor/Matusiwa combo will not work in midfield however long they play together it's just a question of who Cajuste plays alongside. As for our wide players... |

Welcome back to the Championship! thought possession/attacking wise we were terrible, completely nullified by a more hungry tenacious Birmingham side with momentum as per us 2 seasons ago.
One shot on target from a very fortuitous penalty says it all, the players struggling in the Premiership continued to do so tonight other then the central defensive pair, still waiting for Ogbene to do something of note in a town shirt but it wasn't just him. Matusiwa although only 1 game struggled with the pace.
Officiating was on our side tonight...if you think we're going to cruise this league then your on planet zog.
