Barnsley fans are amongst the most gracious anywhere

I've no real issue with the penalty, it was a little soft (Burns had gone down quite easily a few times before), but I can see why it was given. What you've to understand is, we've had one penalty all season, so our fans have a tendency to compare every penalty against us (of which there's been about 8) to every decision which hasn't gone in our favour. Apparently they even themselves out, so I'm expecting 7 penalties in our favour during the play-offs.

He speaks highly of his time at the club, and of course is from the town, but otherwise, not really, no.

I've not seen any of the game back, but at the time, when the foul was awarded against Norwood, I said the ref must have seen an elbow. So I was surprised he got away without caution. It was no different (from first and only viewing at least) to the one Hirst got away with in the second half, so swings and roundabouts I guess.

We all see the game in our teams favour. In this thread I've read we should have gone down to 9 men, I could easily make the same argument. I've read about the goal you had disallowed when we played you at your place; for me it was a clear foul.

It's a funny game football. Anyway, as I say, no hard feelings and all the best for next season.

Now the dust has settled, I'll give my two penneth, and then disappear off into the darkness never to be seen again (unless we end up joining you next season).

Simply put, we were beaten by the better side. I could sit here and say we had an off day, but clearly, it was more than that. I will say that we missed Luca Connell, who has been by far our best player this season, our midfield general. Hearing he wasn't in the squad did strike the fear of god into me, and his replacement Jon Russell hasn't quite lived up to the hype that came with him when he signed from Huddersfield in January.

You'd identified that our back 3 don't like their feathers ruffled, and tried to get Hirst on the ball as much as possible, with the 3 behind him there to feed off whatever he could provide. My main worry before kick off was that you wouldn't be patient in your build up play, and instead try to exploit Andersen's indecision when the ball is put in behind him. In fact, I'd actually envisioned your 2nd goal, it was similar to one Wycombe had scored down here, and similar to a play made by Bolton that resulted in Andersen giving away a penalty and being awarded a red card. He's a very capable defender, with one very big flaw, which is probably the reason he's playing in league 1.

I felt you benefitted from the rub of the green too. Every little bounce, deflection, ricochet and... Ahem... 50/50.... Seemed to go your way. It's true, when you're playing well, you get all the luck. For me that was epitomised in a moment in the second half, where after evading two late challenges, Devante Cole overstretched to keep the ball and caught your centre halfs heels, resulting in a free kick (rightfully) in your favour.

But take nothing away from you, your form has been exceptional, and you deserve to go up. You've been the best side we've faced by a mile this season (Exeter were probably the next best), and have managed to get a tune out of Conor Chaplin, who went through purple patches with us.

Regarding Wembley 2000, I honestly don't have many memories. I was 9, I recall reading a Pokemon book on the way down, Higgy's goal, David Johnson's blue hair, and a Pokemon book on the way home.

Good luck next season, hopefully we'll be with you, and if we're not, I hope it's anyone but Wensdaaahh.

He signed for us in January and hasn't featured much to be honest. He came on as a sub away at Portsmouth for his debut and put a long throw into the box which we equalised from. But otherwise, he's played about 40 minutes off the bench across 5 or so appearances. His arrival coincided with Jordan Williams hitting form, so he's found it difficult to break into the side.

For context, the announcement regarding discriminatory chanting was shortly after our fans had sung 'we all hate Leeds scum' which makes derogatory comments towards the pope and the IRA. We've had the same announcement every home game for about 10 matches. I think there's a small element who haven't realised/don't care why the announcement keeps getting made.

The throwing of bottles was embarrassing, and hopefully a one off.

East Dene working men's club welcomes away fans. Parking £3 and is a 10 minute walk from the ground.

Nowhere in Town will likely turn you away though.

We're friendly people :)

Hope you all have a safe journey up here today.

Good morning Tractor Boys & Girls.

I echo Nightmare's sentiments. Safe travels, 5,000 on a Tuesday night is a great following regardless of club size and league position.

If you're here early, I'd recommend a visit to the museum in the town hall. Entry is quite cheap (if not free), and there's plenty to look at in there from both the town and the clubs history. There's probably some stuff in there from the 2000 play off final, but don't quote me. Barnsley centre doesn't have many landmarks as such; there's the Dicky Bird and Billy Casper statues, but otherwise not much to see. It has been vastly redeveloped in the last 5 years so it's a much more pleasant place to walk around.

In terms of pubs and restaurants, Barnsley has come on leaps and bounds in the last few years. A lot of away fans tend to drink in Sheffield before coming into Barnsley, but as a reds fan living in Sheffield, I can honestly say Barnsley is miles better for drinking these days.

If you walk along from the bus station up Eldon Street, past Parkway Cinema, you'll get the arcade on your right. That's good for micropub type bars, in particular Spiral City and the Jolly Tap. If you come out of the top of the Arcade, you'll be on Market Hill (just below the town hall). You've got the old number 7 straight across which is great for real ale and craft beer fans; they do beers from Acorn Brewery which is a Barnsley brewery, as well as guest beers from other Yorkshire breweries like Magic Rock and Northern Monk. On Market Hill, you've also got your typical chain pubs (Wetherspoons, craft union etc). There's also Evoo, who do good pizza, and 20% off drinks with a match ticket. Further up, theres the old bank, which is quite unique as it has seating area in the banks old vault. Behind Wetherspoons is Eadens, a bar owned and run by ex Barnsley defender and current u18's coach Nicky Eaden, who's final Barnsley appearance was the 2000 play off final (tenuous link I know).

Back down in the new 'town square' if you like, which is just to the left of the bus station, you've got the Market kitchen, which has a good variety of street foods on offer, and a number of new bars at its base. Across the square, you've got Falco lounge which does a decent all day brunch, and next door you have the Works which has darts, pool, shuffleboard and Sky Sports.

My only recommendation is hiding club colours. Pubs tend to operate a home fans only policy when a big gate is expected, but I can guarantee you'll get no trouble from the locals otherwise. I'd also recommend setting off to the ground a good 20 minutes before kick off, as road closures mean going the long way around the train station on the way to and from the ground.

Parking in Barnsley Council owned car parks is relatively inexpensive, and free after either 5 or 6pm. The best one in terms of proximity to the ground and town is called the Seam.

All the best for the future, I hope we somehow manage to pip you to the post, but it's obviously not going to happen. Fingers crossed for us to carry our good form into the play-offs.
