 | News Comment | Hutchinson Exit Looking Closer as Brentford Agree Mbeumo Fee at 13:36:25
On assumption that we did not do the deal originally as the release clause was for upfront payment, this would make sense for us, albeit we lose a decent player. We have too may wide men or number 10's, and if we are comfortable on PSR then it would suggest that the funds could all be re-invested in where we are not blessed with options such as CF & CM or maybe even a RB (also need to move Muric on) |
 | News Comment | Brentford Make £35m Bid But Fail to Meet Terms Ahead of Release Clause Deadline at 10:43:14
Good to see us getting a bit tougher with our negotiations - letting Morsy go with a year left on his contract and knowing the contribution he could make in the Championship in that year is detrimental to our chances of promotion. With Hirst, Chaplin, Szmodics, Clarke, Philogene, Broadhead, Burns, Ogbene & Hutchinson making it 9 players for 4 forward places, would still expect one of these to go (along with 1 x GK) and replaced with another CM plus a standard CF |
 | News Comment | Burnley Confirm Tuanzebe Signing at 11:59:48
Decent player who is a loss, but not a catastrophic one. Looks like as we pass Burnley each season, we pay money for their players, but they get ours for nothing on the way back! With PSR we might lose another couple yet, with hopefully a couple of cheaper/less wages players coming in (CM & CF) |
 | News Comment | O'Shea Signs New Deal at 17:15:54
Slightly odd that he was already contracted until 2029, and this just adds a year to it. No doubt the T&C's etc. will have changed from original, but one way or another some welcome positive news from our most consistent performer last season. CF & 2 x central midfielders required, but not easy when we have to stay within financial rules with a circa £90m reduction in income next season |
 | News Comment | Brighton Away Awaits Town or Forest in FA Cup Quarter-Finals at 09:46:13
As a completely different view to Armchaircritic59, I would snap your hand off if we were offered an FA Cup final & Relegation. We are currently a best priced 2/13 to get relegated, so as much as we should keep the faith, the reality suggests otherwise and we would go down with a stronger squad than we came up with (plus a few more non season ticket holders might get to see them at home every so often!) I suspect that unlike the other Prem clubs this weekend, we will NOT field our strongest starting 11 tonight, with the likes of Delap giving way? |
 | News Comment | Town's Broja Deal Off at 15:55:54
Surely we have enough players - if we get a 3rd CF then 1 isn't going to get much pitch time, and there are other players that can fill that role as well. In KM we trust but think that we may have bought 3 or 4 more than was required or good for squad morale |
 | News Comment | Town Confirm Ogbene Signing at 12:01:25
Having watched the first 2 games in full, it is clear that a few of our established players are not up to Premier standard which is understandable after successive promotions. One new player that has stood out is Delap whilst feeding mainly off scraps. Assuming Hirst is nearing a return and with other players ability to play CF, not sure if we need or want another? |
 | News Comment | McKenna: After the Seasons We've Had There Was Always Going to Be Speculation at 09:10:53
Think Chelsea acted yesterday because they were concerned about losing McKenna to Brighton. That would have been a slight upward step, but in truth Brighton as a mid-table prem side have gone as far as they can. Chelsea would be a huge step up, albeit with a reputation for getting rid of managers. No doubt they have been tapping into Hutchinson on what he is like and training etc. Hoped Liam Rosenior would come to the club as part of McKenna team as an impressive fella and an immediate decent option, but lets hope it does not come to that? |
 | News Comment | Town Set to Break iFollow Record at Fleetwood at 15:05:42
How can the battle for 6th be more important than the battle for 1st? Bad enough for us not being on, but if Plymouth win the league it will be a hell of an achievement by them and for Sky to not be there to record and acknowledge that is just plain wrong |
 | News Comment | Ipswich Town 0-1 Peterborough United - Match Report at 17:54:30
Anyone who thinks we were unlucky to lose inhabits a different reality to me. Absolutely no discernible shape or tactics. Chucked the highly average Drinan under a bus by lumping balls forward with no other Town player within 20 yards of him. Subs made a positive impact, but would have been hard not to. We will finish mid-table at best |
 | News Comment | Hurst: A Special Moment to Lead Town Out at Hillsborough at 10:52:47
Far too early to judge the new manager and early signs are that fans are supportive of change of style. Harsh reality maybe that we are just a bit short of the quality or experience needed to thrive at this level. Bookies rarely wrong and they had us as one of 3 to get relegated before a ball was kicked Not sure what Marcus Evans plans are, if any. He is a rich man who is entitled to do what he wants with his money and don't see too many people knocking his door down to take over the reins. Personally don't understand a half in approach - either go for it or don't bother and parachute payments are making Championship tougher by the year. Want to remain positive, but will confess to being a little fearful |
 | News Comment | Ipswich Town 2-2 Middlesbrough - Match Report at 17:35:14
As Chairman of Peterborough Sports in Northern Premier League my opportunities to watch Town are restricted. Today felt like the 2 year stay in Premiership at turn of century with a crowd TOTALLY behind the team creating a cracking atmosphere and game was fantastic. Yep late equaliser a shame but Boro were good value for a point. Keep the faith |
 | News Comment | Tenth Anniversary of Evans Takeover at 18:45:32
Unless I have missed it, I am not aware of anyone showing a genuine interest in taking the club over in the past 10 years. Without Marcus Evans money we would be stuffed. Game has moved on and parachute payments have stopped the level playing field aspect of the Championship to a degree. We now get mid table crowds at best despite improvements in entertainment this season. Be careful what you wish for peeps |
 | News Comment | McCarthy: Difficult To Take But No Disgrace at 16:08:07
Went away for weekend after game and amazed to come back and read MM assessment of game (to be fair he is usually a lot more honest) Most worrying thing was that score should have been more than 1-0 and Norwich were so obviously better than us Last season we made some acceptable progress and gave hope for this season. In all honesty none of our signings appear to be of the quality to turn us into Play Off contenders and we look mid-table at best. Agree with comments re quality of football on show at Portman Road for a few years now and think this has as much to do with falling crowds as silly prices |
 | News Comment | Town Confirm Parr Signing at 17:12:54
ITFCRealist would appear to be a unrealistic name? A very good under the radar replacement for Cresswell in a matter of days. Agree that a creative midfielder is our main requirement now and we will be not that far way from a play off challenge. Have to accept that we are hugely disadvantaged against relegated sides and MM is our best bet of galvanising a side with more limited resources |
 | News Comment | McCarthy Proud of His Team at 16:39:41
Not bad for an end of season game and Wednesday fans were outstanding (particularly fat bloke!) Some promise for next year and undeniable that we have made good progress, but if we are honest probably 3 players away minimum from a real force at this level. Will we push the envelope in summer to go to next level? |
 | News Comment | McCarthy Delighted With Double Signing at 17:06:57
Have to be realistic in our position on how attractive moving to us is going to be in January but this does provide competition from more mobile players in important striking positions and would suggest DJ's time with us is up, but what a great job he did. Watched McLean a few times in my home town of PBoro alongside Mackail-Smith and whilst not as good as Craig, he was a decent player and surprisingly good in the air with great hang |
 | News Comment | McCarthy Appointment Reportedly Close at 07:20:52
Accepting that we are adrift at the bottom of the Championship and therefore not the most attractive of jobs, I seriously don't think we could have expected anyone better than Mick and personally I think his style of management is something that ITFC has needed for a little while now - not the "scare them to death" Keane approach but a firm hand on the tiller |
