Hi Steve
Just verifying some of your points ,
As regards to tickets in 2,000 play off I think we were just short of sell out by about fifteen hundred or just less .
As far as the FA Cup semi final be Cardiff I think we took about sand or slightly more if memory serves .
As far as this season goes sales were slightly disappointing but the cost of living has hit bad on our already under funded economy and I know many who sadly just couldn’t justify the expense .
However just reading some comments about the support around here and size of population etc .
It’s worth adding that although sandwiched in between other very close clubs that the Borough of Barnsley didn’t exist till the Suxties/ seventies ,
And the towns and villages to the south and east which up to being in our borough had no allegiance to Barnsley Fc with many already died in the wool Wendy fans ,
Also the towns and villages to the North and West were well populated with Leeds Utd sympathies.
This was at a time when these two clubs were riding high in popularity and the region was served by a very good West Riding transport system instead of the split west and South Yorkshire system we gave today .
Most of our support was drawn from a pool of a five mile radius of the town centre with even a heavy Wendy support in amongst that .
We are gaining more support from the Borough but it’s still influenced by these clubs .
Lots of buses from the villages and small towns had mixed supporters travelling together to Wembley in buses and cars .
A per population of support from the borough is a bit distorted for that reason tbh as in some parts of the borough are heavily Wendy or Leeds .
Wendy are a bit like Liverpool and Man Utd in respect of drawing a large proportion of their support away from the city ( obviously not to the same extent ) and Sheff Utds support is mainly from the city as is Everton and Man City .
On a positive note it promises to be a good season for us next year and whilst taking nothing for granted regards promotion/ playoffs we should at least be winning more games than we were in the championship which was sometimes hard to watch .
Wish you all well for next season and you never know the momentum you have and a good transfer window along with the very good team you already have could be a very good season indeed . |

With a couple of additions or keeping some of your loan players you’ll have no problem establishing in the Championship next season .
McKenna and his staff seem to know what they’re doing so you’ve no worries there imo .
I’ve enjoyed our season in div one so far tbh although some of the football from some games has been questionable at times it’s been better than losing with a whimper every week as we were last season in the Championship .
Although it’s depressing when your teams hit the doldrums I’d much prefer the ups and downs rather than the franchise system in USA .
Never been to PR by twists of fate but it’s on my future list hopefully in the Championship or above. |

Best team to come to Oakwell by a country mile tbh . No doubt Wendies will be accusing us of throwing it to spite them but that’s in vain .
Pleased for Chappers , never happened for him in Championship with us but hope he’s found his home .
Stil a chance we could join you via playoffs but if not next season looks good .

Plenty of other clubs fans on our doorstep to add to the banter, Huddersfield, Rotherham Doncaster and twenty miles up the road North is the White SH**e and fifteen miles down the road south is the ugly sisters . It’s is ever thus with the Wendies , their sense of entitlement is surreal and almost suicidal when Barnsley or the Blunts move them out of the limelight .
I’m sure you’ll be hearing detrimental remarks about us such as six fingered or Dingles etc which is water off a ducks back coming from them . |

Hi Blues Fans
Just a bit of info for early travelling fans ,
For those who don’t want to park at the ground thers the East Dene WMC on Doncaster Road which is away fan friendly and ten mins from ground and Town Centre .
Could park there and walk into town where there is plenty on offer in our Brand new town centre ,
There’s the market kitchen which offers cuisine like egg and chips , pie n peas etc to Thai, Indian, Serbian , pizza etc and there’s also a bar, . Various eateries dotted about town KFC, Urban Burger, Nando’s etc .along with pub chains etc .
The market inside offers excellent cooked meat sandwiches, pies etc to vegan ,
The outdoor market on Tuesday is a mixture of flea market and new .
For those travelling really early if you’re interested there is the Experience Barnsley museum in the old town hall ( big white building with clock tower ) which covers the Towns Mining and Glass Heritage and has a small cafe for a coffee inside . Or there’s the brand new IMAX cinema complex near the Glass works , Market Kitchen area .
The Metrodome bar for those that arrive a bit later is a stone throw from the away coach, car park and also has a ten pin bowling alley but you may have to book before hand .
There the Joseph Bramahs pub in town which is a Wethers and just a few doors up is the old number seven which dies real ales .
Also the Dove Inn at top of Oakwell lane (five mins from East Dene ) is friendly to both seats of fans and has a beer garden .
Think that covers a fair bit but as nightmare says just ask ,
