Hi everyone. I am a long time visitor to this site and very occasional poster, but if anyone here is interested in DDay, the battle of Normandy and WW2 generally, may I humbly recommend my YouTube channel WW2TV
I have interviewed hundreds of historians, people like James Holland, Al Murray, Peter Caddick-Adams, Alex Churchill etc. I also mention ITFC every now and then in my Ask Me Anything shows.
It seems to me you have to deal with much more passive-aggessiveness than I do. Actual Nazis are easy to spot, but TWTD has lots of quite nasty bullying that masquerades as sarcasm and banter. There is a vindictiveness here among some people that as I said before, is scary.
BTW, there are quite a few WWII historians and authors who are Ipswich fans. We have enough that we are thinking about hiring a box or hospitality suite for a game this season. So we can talk about WW2 and football together. I live in Normandy and if I am lucky get to a game or two a season
I have lurked on this forum for well over a decade and visit every day. I never post or reply, because of the often very hostile/sarcastic/bitchy/petty tone here. I get my Ipswich news from, and appreciate the information, but there are some very weird people who make this place a cess-pit at times. It is incredibly off-putting, and Phil I sympathise HUGELY with the task you face having to moderate this hornet's nest.
For reference, I run a WW2 History channel on YouTube with 80,000 subscribers and have to deal with real life NAZIS, and I genuinely think my task is easier moderating that, than Phil's job here on TWTD. Again, I have to deal with holocaust deniers, actual f-ing Nazis and also pro-Putin nutters in Russia. For some reason, there is a nastiness among some users of TWTD and it's scary.
Keep on doing what you do Phil, I, for one, appreciate your efforts
