What are we missing

In a dream world, I would:

- Upgrade Ben Johnson with Tanganga
- Cover Townsend with Samuel Illing-Junior
- Upgrade Jack Taylor with Hackney
- Bring in Yalcouye as cover for Matusiwa
- Doak as Hutchinson replacement on loan
- Osula as Al-Hamadi upgrade

Leaves us with 25 man squad:

GK: Walton, Button, Palmer
CB: Woolfenden, Greaves, O'Shea, Kipre
RB: Young, Tanganga
LB: Davis, Illing-Junior
CM: Matusiwa, Cajuste, Humphreys, Hackney, Yalcouye
RW: Ogbene, Doak
CAM: Szmodics, Chaplin
LW: Clarke, Philogene
ST: Hirst, Akpom, Osula

Sell: Hutchinson, Broadhead, Taylor, Johnson, Al-Hamadi
Deregister: Clarke, Townsend, Burns

No chance we end the window with this squad, but it's nice to dream.

McKenna likes his players to learn their roles inside out. He'll have a preferred position in mind for Akpom. At the moment I'd guess that's striker.

Nice to read an intelligent debate about tactics and style of play on here.

Akpom could be the key to unlocking Szmodics' potential in this team. Reports suggest Akpom likes to drop deep and has the ability to build up play, allowing Szmodics to run in behind and sniff out the goals.

The thought of a front four of Akpom, Szmodics', Philogene and Hutchy (or his replacement) is mouthwatering.

I just wish we'd have added Hackney to that. Someone of his progressive passing ability would be devastating feeding that atrack and unfortunately, for all his qualities, Cajuste isn't really that guy.

Hopefully the Hackney deal could be revived or we find someone of similar abilities.
