 | News Comment | Keane Set for Target Talks at 14:11:44
bicesterblue2 ; your comments are absolutely right on the money. That is why RK will see out his current contract. Like it not, this club sold out to a businessman. To get an idea of the man, you should check out the following:- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcus_Evans The best hope for supporters is that RK is given the money in Jan to get the players to fill the gaps that everyone is suggesting. Creative Midfield player(Jake Livermore getting there), Good consistant wide player( Andros not consistant enough). RK knows what he needs, CK and others at the club will be saying the same as the fans, but if the Boss does not back you (RK keeps saying he has bascially had his hands tied for 18 months) , then what can RK do? He will not resign , ME will not sack him as it will cost and also will be seen as a failing from a successful business man. |
 | News Comment | Keane: If My Best Isn\'t Good Enough I\'ll Take the Consequences at 11:58:19
I have read with interest all of the comments regarding RK most of the season. Having been a blues fan for 39 years now , but unfortunately mostly limited to watching live on TV now due to moving to Aberdeen , I have a few comments of my own. a)Ipswich look far better in defence than they did last year, so in real terms have progressed. b)In midfield they suffer from the same problem as England with the Gerrard/Lampard situation, ie same type of players playing in the same team which is predictive and ineffective and easy for the opposition to counter. What has really been missing for a few seasons now has been that creative player to take hold of a game and open things up. Keane had this at utd with Beckham. Look at why QPR are so good this season, defence not that great, but Adel in midfield takes hold of the game and runs it, feeding their strikers or scoring himself. He did not cost QPR the earth. c) Stikers, I will probably go against the grain here, but I believe we need to unload Wickham now. In reality it is a case of when not if Wickham goes eventually, so you have to assess if he is worth holding onto because he is doing a job for you now or not. With no goals since last April, I would suggets he is not doing anything for us in our hour of need. Compared to Bent who was doing something for us before he departed. I think with Scotland/Priskin/Forlan we have proven championship goal scorers. This gets onto my final point on the team:- d) Wingers. This is where we have definately been lacking for a good few seasons now, and along with the creative midfielder mentioned above is a gap that needs filing in this window. RK tried it with Lee Martin, but he had no consistency(bad buy) , Edwards looks good , but again needs THAT midfielder to make him more effective. Civelli? dont know what is going on here? Medical Insurance Claims? So all in all, offload Wickham to fund the 2-3 player gap we have. Some other comments on here have mentioned the business side of things on here and I fully agree with this. Which brings me to RK. I admired RK as a player, and also admire his no-nonsense approach to the todays modern footballers. I think his hunger and determination is a good model for the youngsters in the club coming through. I think the future can go 2 ways, either ME gets to a point of no return as already agreed with RK and RK departs, or ME supports RK and funds him in Jan. Having watched Aberdeen as my now home team, this season has been very much like Ipswich. Big expectant crowds remembering the glory days. Big name manager MM not delivering through his team. Semi-Final of League Cup , but 1 from bottom of league and playing crap football most of the time. Can a change of manager make a difference with the same players? Well Aberdeen sacked MM and installed Craig Brown, 3 matches and 7 points from 9 that should have been 9 from 9. Performances - look better. But Aberdeen like Ipswich , have to rely on Youth system , and that takes time, alongide 1 or 2 shrewd signings. So dont hold on for RK departing, I believe he will see out his contract, and get supported in Jan Window by ME. Lets hope he makes the right signings. |
