 | News Comment | McKenna: We Know the Owners Will Support Us If We Find a Suitable Player at 19:47:35
Not sure why you are being downvoted FF. It’s all well and good going out and spending big on players to push for promotion. But what happens if it doesn’t work out? In 3 years we could be back in League 1 having had point deductions and probably losing Mckenna and some players too soon. I don’t want to be that club. The club who fails by overspending and underperforming. Whatever happens, I trust the board, Ashton and Mckenna to make the right decisions this January. How many decisions have they got wrong in the last 2 years? That’s exactly what Mckenna is saying here. Stay within FFP and only sell if it will benefit the team and we can bring someone ‘better’ in. We might get 1 or 2 forwards in on loan, but unlikely to see a sizeable transfer fee unless we sell one of our players. I do fancy Broadhead as a striker in this team with Chaplin in behind though! |
 | News Comment | McCarthy: I've Heard Nothing from West Brom at 13:07:03
The more I read, the more I think MM wanted to stay... Doesn't seem that mutual? “I've never experienced this in 26 years as a manager. I've never had to do this. And so I have found it really, really strange. “The first couple of days was a bit difficult, it was just unusual. I can't describe it any other way. But I'm over that now, that's gone, I've got my head around it and after Monday it was terrific.” Saying "I've never had to do this", "I have found it really, really strange" and "I've got my head around it" suggests it wasn't his idea. It is an unusual situation. |

naa - I agree with everything you have said. I have said that the info was sketchy ... (definitely did not misinterpret the data haha..) Mick did overachieve in the first 3/4 years, yes. My problem with Mick wasn't necessarily what he achieved. Ipswich is (was) a family club. One where we all stuck together and we were proud to call them our club. I don't think Mick was the right choice regardless of what he achieved. It was all about him and he appeared to show little respect to the fans. I mean, telling the fans to "**** off" at Norwich... you can't come back from that. It was left to Chambo to come out say "oh yeah, Mick did say he wanted to leave and finish above the guys up the road.." |

ajs83 - agree with your points. Admittedly - info was a little sketchy. Have heard that Cowley's contract has been drawn up by a friend... just didn't want to start the rumour mill... Only thing with Cowley is that he does have a similar style to Mick. But who knows on a different budget. That being said... Would Mick have done better with a budget? Probably. Would like to see McClaren come in as a coach. I believe he will get the best out of the younger lads. |

I know it isn't a popular choice with some but found this article on McClaren a good read. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37655418 The decision the club makes is going to be a difficult one. Yes, there is the exaggerated ideal of having someone young. I for one would like to see this happen. But, and it is a big but, I wouldn't mind someone coming in as a director to oversee the young manager who has experience in the division. For argument sake... Lampard with Redknapp as a director of football. Good relationship between the 2. In an ideal world, Mick and Town part ways now. It makes Footballing sense. It widens the divide between the Fans and the Club the longer it goes on. Ideally, we get someone in for the last few games who can assess the current situation and who can therefore make the changes before pre season. Rather than have someone start trying to alter the team etc from the start of pre season. However, as I think the majority can now see, Evans treats the club as a business. He can't see the economic benefit of replacing him now. In business terms it would be completely inefficient. I worry this is what football has become, a business. I keep telling myself it isn't, but it is all too obvious now. Teams have gone to the Prem with a similar budget to ours. We tend to forget our wage bill is one of the highest in the division. If Evans doesn't want to invest any more, then we need someone who can actually coach the younger players. Similar to what McClaren has achieved. |

 | News Comment | Town Given Initial 5,500 Allocation for Manchester United Tie at 10:49:11
The rules say that both teams need to agree on prices... but it also says this "the admission prices to be charged to supporters of a Visiting Club shall not be higher than those charged to the supporters of the Home Club for comparable accommodation and in particular concessionary rates offered to senior citizens and junior supporters shall apply equally to both sets of supporters" and I'm pretty sure someone mentioned Utd's prices for the same area was £38. So one of these rules has been broken... |
 | News Comment | Town Announce Norwich Play-Off Ticketing at 11:18:23
The point has already been made concerning the aspect of people turning up and pretending that they have been loyal to the club for the last x amount of years. I think that this is a little ignorant. I am only saying this as this whole year, i have been training in London every tuesday and thursday nights from August, i have been training or playing saturday and also sunday. The only way i can follow ipswich is on my phone and because of the level i play means i can't say "sorry i just want to go to the football". This means that i have only been to around 5 home games all season which is incredibly frustrating for me. But, i want to point this out, because of the opportunity of being able to attend these 5 games, i have paid full price as an adult, despite being a gap year student with limited funds. I do not ask my parents to pay for me, i pay the £20, £30 whatever it might be because i want to watch ipswich. It's actually a little disappointing that people still call people like me 'glory hunters', i find it astonishing because, what is the problem with someone like me turning up? Season ticket holders get the opportunity to purchase before me, and I won't be able to go the away game because of how it is structured (or incredibly unlikely) because of people that have forked out money week in week out (respect). It is no different to a normal game in the sense that, season ticket holders will get their seats if they want and the remaining seats will be filled with people who want to be there on the big occasion? The second point i want to get onto is that Norwich had parachute payments meaning that extra funds are not to hard to come by. When we played Southampton the price was lowered considerably which people have tended to forget quite quickly. This is an opportunity for the club to make as much money as possible. And if you really support the club, why not pay that extra bit? it goes into the club at the end of the day. And I'm sure it will be put to use in the club and not in the back pocket of Mr Evans in developing the infrastructure like the toilets etc. |
