 | Blog Comment | Where Did It All Go Wrong for Paul Hurst? at 14:23:04
Fantastic article. Balanced and forensic. You rightly pinpointed the Norwich game as the turning point. I came away from that game really flat, feeling like Hurst had got it so badly wrong. Dropping Bart was a stupid power move, designed to shake up a group of established senior players who were guilty of nothing more than failing to adapt to Hurst's new style. Did he not think maybe it was down to his coaching, rather than the desire and commitment of 4/5 players with a few hundred Ipswich games between them. It also sent out the message 'make a mistake and you're out'. No wonder our confidence receded badly after that game. |

This is spot on, a really evocative take on being an Ipswich fan. When I part with my £30 on a Saturday, all I want to see is one of these magic moments. It doesn't even have to be a goal. Edwards' flick over the full-back against Blackburn, Dozza coming off the bench against Boro, the minutes applause for Beattie, singing 'Take Me Home Country Road' before the Norwich game. We had very few of these in the last 2 years under McCarthy, so whatever happens this season I just hope Hurst's team can create a few moments to savour. Just think, when our time comes again the years of hurt will make everything feel that much sweeter. |

Hard to get excited about this. I was hoping to see some proper Championship experience coming in. Jon Walters would have been nice but I assume we would have got nowhere near his wage demands anyway. A debut goal on Sunday will change my mind! |

A lot of people had their hopes set on Jack Ross. I've no doubt Ross is a good manager, but he doesn't have the same knowledge of the English League compared to Hurst. If our approach is to buy players from lower divisions and nurture the youth, then maybe this guy is the right fit for us. Can't wait for the start of the new season, let's just enjoy this feeling of optimism and anticipation while it lasts! |
 | Blog Comment | How Mick McCarthy Accelerated His Own Departure at 13:05:33
This is spot on. The incident after the Hull game was McCarthy saying to the players "play for me, not for them". My concern is that the new manager will inherit a set of players that have been conditioned to McCarthy's ways, and who blame the fans for his departure. |

Billericay12 - I agree that the entertainment has not been where we want it to be, what I was saying is that efforts have been made to improve on last season where we really hit rock bottom with regards to value for money. We’ve seen glimpses of McCarthy trying to come out his shell, but you’re right, our inability to dominate possession is a massive concern. |

Very enjoyable article, really liked it. I used to visit my grandparents in Upper Layham back in the 80's and 90's. Everyone in the village talked about Town, even those who had no interest in football. Most of them knew some of the players. I doubt it's the same now. Very sad. |
