Timbousa, I saw what you did there. Deflate gate!

Happy to have him aboard.

Town Look to Gazump Birmingham's Akpom Deal
at 12:45:34

It would appear that too many people think the transfers, negotiations and signing of players is as simple as playing FC24. Things take time, it’s not as simple as Ipswich target a player so he is going to sign.

Just a few seasons ago we wouldn’t have been anywhere near signing someone from a team that was playing in Europe last year, yet now we bemoan that he’s not good enough or it’s desperation. Seriously, when did our supporters become like Chelsea fans?

There is such negativity on this forum from some quarters, that I wonder why they even suggest that they support Ipswich.

If we get him, if we are in for him, Akpom would be a good addition to our squad while hopefully getting one over on the serious rival that is BCFC.

McKenna: Hutchinson Not Mentally in Right Place For France Trip
at 10:20:19

As town fans, we have seen the big boys and agents come in and unsettle players such as Ben Knight and Tyreece Simpson it happens in football. I’ll give Omari credit for being honest with the coaches and saying he was not feeling right before the game.

He was onto a loser, especially seeing the comments here, either way. If he plays and puts up a stinker of a game it would have been because he’s head was not in it, then gets slated. Instead, he lets the team know he’s not feeling right and still gets slated. Can’t win!

I do hope that none of the people slating him here ever have issues with mental wellbeing, no stress, anxiety or depression. It’s horrible and can be debilitating at times.

He’s been a great addition to the club and I, for one, hope he stays and gets the support within the club he needs.

Azón 'Wants Future Settled This Week'
at 10:06:50

I think it’s very clear that we live in a very different world when it comes to transfers, nowadays. Gone are the days when teams simply agreed a deal and the player was off.

Now, rightly, the players have more of a say in the transfer. People saying to move on should remember this is a young lad that is being asked about moving country. I wonder how many people commenting here, would feel they were able to up sticks and go to another country where you don’t know anyone or the culture.

If he comes, choosing us over a La Liga side it would be quite a coup for us as a club so I feel it’s natural that he would want to take a bit of time.

However, us football fans with the start of the season day away are very impatient.

McKenna: A Fair Bit Left in the Summer, I Think There'll Be Movement in Both Directions
at 13:05:38

While I appreciate that there are gaps left by those that are going, we do have a lot of talent still at the club. I think we’ll see a lot more of Humphrey’s this year, while I know a lot of people aren’t keen, AAH might well have settled and can grow into a decent striker, still young at 23 so time to develop.

It’s always a guessing game, which unsettles a lot of folk when there are no news or rumours. The club have been good at concluding business quietly, until Fabrizio Romano gets wind of things, so I’ll bet there’ll be a lot going on.

Players on tour and in camp will be better for it, we don’t need to add as many faces as last year. So cohesion should come a lot earlier.

McKenna: We Need to Expand Our Scouting Networks and Recruit From Different Markets
at 12:48:59

What suprises me is the amount of negativity from various subscribers on this forum, many of whom claim to have knowledge of what is going on behind the scenes at Portman Road.

When Gamechanger came in, it was always with a view to make an investment that was going to make money for the shareholders, it was very simple. It was also a five year plan to get ITFC back to the Prem which happened in 2.5.

What they have done, is invest in this club. They have probably done what is akin to open heart, life saving surgery on this club because of the lack of investment of Mr Evan’s. However, folks on here have such a negative view, it astounds me. We would not have been promoted to the EPL without the investment of this group, or the management and coaching staff. They will also probably been the first to admit when they have made mistakes and try to learn from them.

Building a scouting network, most likely from scratch is not like it is in a console game. Developing the contacts and knowledge of areas is incredibly challenging. Town used to do this well as we saw with the likes of Taricco, Paz, Guentchev and numerous other players in the past. I am sure that this was something that has been planned for a while so KMK comments are probably coming from the knowledge that this is something that is happening now, hence the fact that we’re linked to the Mexican player.

Who could blame Hutchinson if he wants to go back and play in the Prem, like Delap. Tuanzabe got to be a Premier League player in a club closer to his home, who’s holding that against him. Granted the Burgess thing was odd.

I’m no expert, I don’t have inside knowledge but I believe that the team at Portman Road now are trying to create something very special for the future and ensure the infrastructure and player pipeline will keep us at the top for a long time. I trust their expertise over my armchair knowledge.

Town Closing in On Matusiwa With Fee Agreed
at 16:38:10

I think it’s safe to say that this scouting and coaching staff will have done their due diligence on the player, whether we know much about him or not.

What I love most about this club right now is the way they coach the players to be better, get more out of them. The likes of Clarke, Hutchinson, Philogene are still young and developing players so can expect more in the future.

Adding a player like this, is a sound plan for me especially if we’re not getting Cajuste back.

McKenna: It Was Certainly a Difficult Spot
at 22:08:29

9darter, I think he means when they conduct the review of the season. It would have been great to have him available more often, because of the impact he’s had. Although I can see the way it’s phrased looks like something may be happening. Hope I’m right in my reading of the statement.

Could really do with him and another big, fast paced striker when it comes to next season.

Miller Slaps Wardley at Chaotic Portman Road Press Conference
at 00:55:29

This is actually a huge deal for both the club and the town. ITFC have done more recently to put Ipswich on the map and draw people into the area than the local council.

Feel that Miller may have seen his best days during his ban but it remains to be seen what he can do in full camp. Wardley will not have faced some one who will come forward in the way Miller does, his intensity level is huge. Dubois left it very late against him.

Got a strong feeling for Wardley though. And judging by the sales so far, there appears to be huge interest in this area. Suffolk has a good history with boxing going back to David Starrie amongst others.

Broja Set For Medical

Good signing, in my opinion. Another dimension to our attacking line up. Would like to see another left sided midfield/forward player but I think the bulk of the squad is pretty much there.

It’s interesting though, over the last couple of years the club transfer business has been largely under wraps until it’s confirmed. Since the last January transfer window, particularly from Romano, the journalists seem to have been getting a lot of information. Where do the leaks come from?

Town Target Philogene Completes Villa Return
at 07:33:45

It sounds like the lad is where he actually wants to be, so no hard feelings on that score for me. The lure of potential Champions League football is always going to sway the judgement. Good luck to him and I hope he gets what he was looking for. I’m sure ITFC have moved on already.

It does make me wonder though as Hell paid £5 million, the buy back clause means that they get £13m. So it seems to me that they are actually £8m ahead on this one.

Delap Signing Confirmed
at 21:45:24

I love the business that has been done so far. Some really good signings, lots of potential. What really has impressed me is the length of the contracts, which appears to be the result of FFP but also that the fees are not massive.

The hierarchy at the club have a really good plan, in my opinion, steady development and not over reaching.

Johnson: A Fantastic Opportunity
at 19:29:21

One of the biggest things for me is the length of the contracts. I feel that this is a good sign of intent in signing Johnson and Hutchinson but most importantly is having these guys tied for 4 and 5 years. Historically, under previous management it would have 2 with an option.

Welcome Ben, looking forward to seeing you play and the competition in the squad.

Town 'Dossier' Leak Report
at 21:22:27

I’ve read the details of the so-called dossier twice and it’s just utter rubbish. It’s not the type of thing a team would send out, it’s like someone has taken the FC24 scouting system and typed it up. The fact the the Sun, as total garbage as it is would print it shows how little they care about proper journalistic integrity or content.

Town Could Look at Downes Reunion
at 07:55:29

He was often Southamptons best midfielder and stood out toward the end of the season from what I could see. It appeared that much of the play went through him and he was the engine in the middle of the park.

It wouldn’t be a bad signing, the treatment by Mr Cook for him and others was completely unnecessary. I think with the coaching that he would get at this club with the KM and others, could see him really achieve the potential we all thought he had when at ITFC.

Liverpool and Manchester City Up First For Town
at 16:21:00

We were going to play them at some point anyway. Great way to start the season and with no expectation outside of club of victory, the players should feel free to go and express themselves.

I’m looking forward to it and now hope we can secure a few decent team-first signings early to bed them in during pre season.

Blues Aim to Go Into Break on High Note By Beating Swans
at 09:58:28

I appreciate that the international breaks allow for the players to rest and those not involved in national squads to work in training but I’m getting frustrated by the number of interruptions to the season.

That said, it would be great for us to go into the break on the back of another win and maintain the distance to third. This season is only going to get tougher as we go on and with LUFC finding form, we can’t afford to drop many points if any.

Hopefully, we impose our style of play and score a bucket load today. Although I would happily take a 1-0.

I love the way the club is doing business, when you look at the outlay for Taylor and Hirst. Both good players with their prime ahead of them and bags of room for potential.

Town Make Taylor Enquiry
at 17:53:41

There's always a lot of speculation when it comes to Town and the transfer window. However, I think that we have much more astute transfer negotiators now and people that know a proper value of players. It unlikely that Barry Fry will be able to mug us, if this is a target the club pursue.

However, he seems a decent lad for this league and I wouldn't be against it, if he came to us. Although, as has been mentioned, the names of our actual targets under this regime don't often appear until signed.
