It was always unlikely anyway. He always stated he would like a premier league move so he didn’t want to come here in the first place. I mean he’s going to look a right idiot now if no premier league clubs come in for him. It’s a risk from him to turn down 35k a week whilst there’s been no concrete premier league interest in him. I like our ambition to try and sign him but you also have to give the bloke some credit for rejecting 35k a week to potentially stay at midtable Middlesbrough. At least there is some loyalty in football these days so some credit to him. |

Feel like this is going to be like the Armando Broja and Latte Lath saga over again. He either wants to come here or he doesnt. We can’t be left on a knife edge whether he wants to join or not. We need reinforcements in that area pretty sharpish with only a week until kick off. Give him a deadline to make a decision and if no decision is made then pull out the deal and find someone who isn’t waiting for a premier league club to come calling.

So we’d be making approx 13m if we accept 35m with a percentage going to Chelsea. We made approx 4m from delap in the end for a future England striker which was a awful deal, I think this would be a poor deal in terms of profit for another player who could potentially be an England first team player in a few years.
