Pop up the monument for a couple of quid. Gets the pulse racing. If that gets them interested in the great fire, try Museum of London. Rarely gets talked about but fascinating. |

Going forwards maybe but for a supposed centre half, he often simply fails to put a challenge in for the ball. Half of his game is good, the other half is definitely work in progress. |

With all of the resources at their disposal, it would be easy for a Championship or PL side to hire a muddy council pitch to train on before these types of games. I bet they don’t though. [Post edited 5 Feb 22:06]

I arrived late for that game and asked a copper what was going on. He said ‘this is supposed to be a minutes silence’. I’ve never heard anything like it. |

This is easily resolved. The coaches with their committee support need to get the parents together and spell it out. We did it at U8 and one parent didn’t agree and said ‘you should always play your best players’. One of the other parents turned round and said ‘this clearly isn’t the team for you’. He left. His son played for three other clubs, (one run by an ex pro) before his dad came back and said he’s told me he only enjoyed his football here, will you have him back? Yep. He’s been here 4 years now and is a great kid. It’s about managing kids on the pitch and the expectation of parents. It’s a pain in the arse but brilliant at the same time. |

In my experience, those types of teams fold quite quickly. I’m chair of a large junior club and we have a ‘no trials’ and ‘no scouting’ policy. If you’re after trophies above having fun with your mates and player development, we’re not the club for you. |

I have always said a kid will never put him or herself in the car and go to another club. It’s the parents. I have had a few kids leave over the years. Some have come back, sadly most have left the game because of their negative experiences elsewhere. The lack of courtesy you describe is just a reflection of today’s society. Tried to click on the link but it’s not working. There’s no miracle about Bournemouth that a Range Rover full of Russian money wouldn’t produce. They are the epitome of modern football. A club living well beyond its means. |
