 | News Comment | Town Complete Palmer Signing at 22:20:44
Well it's a shame about muric. I went and watched the town preseason against Hoffenheim. Me and my friend were a bit confused as to why he was so far out of his box, but he seemed alert enough to be back at the right time and the sweeper keeper system seemed to keep the Hoffenheim defence under constant pressure. Plus it soon became apparent that his distribution was fantastic. From his hands or from his feet it seemed to land perfectly and we left Austria with high hopes for the new keeper. Sadly once the season started against Liverpool and city, being so far out of his box backfired. His distribution started to drop off in line with his confidence as the error count increased. Now we are where we are. I can see what McK saw in him and it's a shame it didn't work out. We will never know for sure why or how it ended with hdalky, but what could have been a good replacement simply didn't work out. That's the end of it. Now we have to look at the rest of the season and throw every ounce of support the teams way. Confidence will be rock bottom and they will need all the help they can get. By no means is our season over, there are still many games left to play and many points to fight for. My bet is that lief will rediscover his ability to notch up assist after assist and we will get a few wins on the board and survive the drop. If not I don't think we will be away as long as last time. |
 | News Comment | O'Shea: Burgess Really Easy to Play Alongside at 12:08:20
Burgess is possibly one of the best at defensive headers around. I think when they rebuilt has face after that freak injury, they must have put some sort of football magnet in there. I can't remember the last time I saw him lose an aerial duel. |
 | News Comment | O'Neil: That Group Was Close to Its Maximum Today at 11:34:15
To me it looks like it went over Clarke's attempted sliding interception and snuck in between muric and the post. It came in quick, so was tricky to deal with, but the gap should have been a bit tighter. It is what it is though, and as I said, was overall an improvement in controlling his area this game. Which is a huge positive. |
 | News Comment | O'Neil: That Group Was Close to Its Maximum Today at 10:28:19
Well, the game was certainly an entertaining one. It was also good to see that, although there were a couple of errors on their part, burns and Clarke actually had a pretty ok game. On another day that burns strike would have settled into the goal at the far post, and it was got with enough venom that the keeper did a fantastic job to get a hand to it. I think Burns might be suffering from a bit of confidence issues and this gave should certainly help. Clarke was winning a lot of balls, especially in the air; occasionally his positioning let him down, bit this is something that can improve with experience. Certainly his work rate and the effort he put in can't be criticised. Despite that he could have done better for the goal; he didn't have too much of a bad game. A couple of good stops, but also was very effective in claiming the high balls into the box that were searching for their tall striker. I just wish that occasionally we could play it out quick from the keeper so that we can catch the other team on the transition. We do seem to slow the game down too much at times. The fracas at the end? What a clown that Ait-Nouri is. How he didn't get sent off for skating burns in the face earlier in the game is beyond me. But he was causing issues with his conduct most of the match. Not surprised that it was him again at the end with the drama. Also, not sure who it was; but I am not a fan fella that threw himself to the floor after hutch pushed him away. Attempting to win games by cheating to try and get players sent off it's unacceptable and i really think the fa should come down hard on that shirt of thing. Overall we deserved that win, and Taylor must be buzzing after scoring a prem goal. I have to eat some humble pie with that one. I said before that he wasn't good enough for the premier league yet, but the last two games have certainly proved me wrong. Perhaps if the team can build up a head of steam with a win against Newcastle we could achieve something great this season. Al Hamadi now has his chance, and it works certainly make for a good story were he to take it with a goal or two. Coyb! |
 | News Comment | McKenna: Nothing Imminent at 21:18:10
(thanks to the mods for taking down the last post for me... Android copy and paste decided to be a bit overzealous with the copy selection and I didn't notice until it was too late) |
 | News Comment | McKenna: Nothing Imminent at 21:16:50
After reflecting on this issue, I think I'd like to see another Forward, CM and LW come on as cover for who we have. Especially because of injuries that could happen in the competitive premier league environment. (See broadhead and hirst) However, casting my memory back to when KM took over, it was said the team needed a full overhaul to compete in League one. A few additions and a season and a half later we got promoted. Then it was said that we need massive changes to the squad in order to compete at championship level as the players weren't good enough. A couple of additions and up we went. With, notably, pretty much the same team playing the last game of the championship season that played the last game of the league one season the year before. Now we are in the premier League. It is being said that we need a lot of new players to be able to compete at this level. I said to a friend of mine at the end of last season, that 5 additions may well be enough (LB, DCM, Forward, Omari and a LW) ((...I didn't see hdalky leaving)). I also said, that with the exception of omari these signings could be mainly for cover for who we have. This team has come up the leagues together. Through hard work and following KMs plans, tactics and work ethic, they are now in the premier League. This is the team. Our team. The same team that has taken us from L1 to premier league in a couple of seasons. In a way I'd rather see is relegated as a result of giving the players who worked so hard a chance to compete at the highest level then scrape safety by replacing the players who have given everything for club. However... Maybe we should dare to believe that they may yet have more to give. After all; they do have a habit of defying expectations. We are the 13th man on the field and our belief and support might just give the other 12 the edge to suprise everyone. |

 | News Comment | U21s to Face Borussia Mönchengladbach at 10:56:03
Another top tip... Travel by train from Munich to Kaufstein tomorrow; get a "Bayern ticket" it's 29 euro and is valid on all modes of public transport for the day of travel. I'm using it to go from Regensburg to the game. |

I just contacted the ticket seller and explained that the fixture is now u21 and therefore not as advertised. They gave me my money back no problem. I just had to send them the link to the news story on the itfc website as they hadn't been told about the change. And to those who already made the journey... The have tomorrow is still the 1st team. Enjoy Munich and the surrounding area. Find a Biergarten and relax. Tomorrow will be a great game in a great location. |

That's a little cheeky. Especially as the tickets for that game had to be bought in advance and are non refundable. I'd be more upset, but my daughter popped out 10 days early so I couldn't go anyway. Must have been because she wanted to go too. New town supporter! |
 | News Comment | Town Agree Fee For Manchester City Striker Delap at 20:43:24
I wasn't expecting hdalky to leave so my transfer window bingo card only has CM (maybe someone like Tonali) left on it. That being said, I think luongo might well surprise us all again this season. Keep slicker as #2 and try to grab a decent free agent as backup? |
 | News Comment | Villa Game Live on Sky at 17:41:28
Is it still possible to watch every Ipswich game live next season? On TV before anyone says "yes, go to all the games". I live in Germany now, so was kind of relying on towntv to watch every game |
 | News Comment | Liverpool and Manchester City Up First For Town at 10:22:55
This could work out pretty well for us. The first games of the season are when any tricky plays that the boss has come up with in preseason will be busy effective, Liverpool and city players may still have the hangoverinjuries from the euros to contend with and Liverpool will have a new manager settling in. Points on the board at this point against the top teams will certainly be a big bonus going into the season. On top of this; our teams approach to games is as professional as I have seen it in 20 years (or ever?) I'd put a cheeky bet on them getting a couple of huge results. |
