Just been reading your posts and they made me smile. Most of you with frustrations sound exactly like our own fans (WFC). Even up to the point he was sold many were split. Some though it was a good price for a player who only had a decent 6 month is the whole time he was at the club, others thought we should have kept him and he has bags of ability and potential and was described as the best finisher outside of the premiership. I haven't see you guys play this year so can comment on how you are playing him but he is not a target man if that is what you are expecting and we actually the got the best out of him when he played with a stronger target man (Rasiak). Neither is he a out and out goal scorer. He is a bit of a luxury player akin to Berbatov in that he can change a game while a sublime skill, unparalleled at this level. Some call him lazy but actually it is just his style he expects the ball to feet and will not chase it in the channels like an English style forward. Talented footballers can appear lazy because of this and I understand why you are frustrated. If Keane had done his homework he would have seen this so by the sound of your comments I guess this was lazy scouting by the club! He will often draw defenders out into wide / deep positions and play wonderful flick or through ball to forward running midfielders and or his strike partner. You will need to build your play around him to do this and will need skilful / intelligent footballers. We were fortunate last year as we had Tommy Smith and Don Cowie making those midfield runs and his partner up front was Gregor Rasiak who being Eastern European himself was used to this style of play. Some of the interchange between Rasiak and Prisken were a joy to watch and worth the entrance fee alone. |
