In the 50s I supported Newport County, known locally as "The Neddies" Playing Port Vale was a always a pain. Thjey were known as ther "offside experts" of the old 3rd division and they usually beat us one nil. I know they are better than that now and another win should be a formality for us. Over the years I have had bad experiences at P.R. but last night was the worst. When I was the team going into panic mode and then 6 mins added on I knew what was going to happen. Money must be spent in January or we will drop out of contention for promotion. |

Sorry we didn't get the winner but an exciting aftenoon witht the great support. I have to mention the "big" screen. From the east stand north end, it was almost invisible. A man mountain sat in the next seat and the information was unreadable. Too much information crammed on a screen not much larger than the tele in my sitting room. The old score board just showed the time played and the team was not displayed. It would also be helpful to see the time added counting down too.

I was in the North Stand lower last night. I didn't hear anyone booing but plenty of abuse directed at Townsend in the Newport goal who played a blinder. Our attack had to deal with a massed defense and an on form keeper. I find Phil's match report pretty accurate and the teaam was quick and dominated the game. I was surprised Newport survived numerous attacks and we should have won easily.
The P.A. was not itself and any announcements were inaudible. The tiny score screen ought to be replace with big screen soonest.
Let's give Cookie some slack and look on the bright side of life. |
