 | Forum Reply | The reality of assisted dying at 15:34 20 Jun 2025
I'm not sure this is the right way to look at it. It's not going to be an option open to everyone - far, far from it. And if someone's given six months to live, they're not going to go through this, unless their last few weeks become unbearable, would be my sense? I also believe that the bill, as currently written, means the pool of people who'll qualify for assisted dying is incredibly small. Sure, it will expand, but I am very much in the camp as outlined above. It allows for a far more dignified exit from this world, reducing strain on family and friends. As a bloke with parents in their early 60s, nursing them through a loss of cognition and coherence to a point where they would be ashamed terrifies me. |

Just goes to show how hard it is to make an impact in a relegated team in the PL nowadays as well. Two months ago Town fans were writing Omari off, now he shows just how good he is surrounded by peers playing for much more established PL sides. |

I heard pre-January we had a deal wrapped up for Poku, but then he got injured. Semi-surprised we're revisiting it considering the strength we have on the right now but there's definitely been interest. |

When you look at the group of players out of contract next summer, I can’t see the club offering a single one of them a new deal. Makes me wonder if the likes of Taylor may be let go this summer if an offer arrives. RE Broadhead, I doubt we will ever truly know the situation. But you can just see him in a Wrexham shirt next season can’t you. |

Be a cool coaching appointment. We obviously need some fresh blood in that area this summer. Equally though - long, hefty move for the Evans family, and I very much doubt he needs the cash. His partner works in the commercial dept at Old Trafford (... or did, perhaps she's been made redundant). |
 | Forum Reply | Sargent leaving Norwich apparently at 16:36 30 May 2025
Regardless of the Norwich connection, I don’t think we can afford to slap down a sizeable fee on an injury-hit striker, however good they are. Especially when Hirst is our other CF. Happy to see the club pursuing younger targets again. |

Whatever route we’d gone this season, the spirit would have been lost. You think that spirit would have survived being beaten every week? And there’s a reason why some of those L1/Champ boys have looked good — because they’ve been fresh. Play them week-in, week-out, you’d have seen fatigue that they didn't have to contend with so much. It’s a romantic notion but would never have been a reality. |

Often aggressively ambitious business leaders are. And yet they still get results. Legacy staff members from the previous era are probably not ideal Ashton employees. |
 | Forum Reply | Chairman + CEO??? at 19:37 27 May 2025
I really think it’s easy to make a mountain out of a molehill with this. Who knows who is chairman of any other PL football club? Or any £100m turnover business for that matter? It’s an outdated, ceremonial role. |

Interesting reading and context above, thanks all. Easy to paint Ashton in a bad light but he may also have decided that the current academy processes he inherited are not fit for purpose and certain cuts are justified. Clearly the club is pushing for Cat 1 and in the mix to get it so they are doing something right. |

How are you making PSR profit stack up after our spending this season? |
 | Forum Reply | Delap replacement at 12:16 27 May 2025
Kone from Wycombe as AAH replacement and better rival to Hirst. Young PL loanee as third striker. |

If O’Shea’s sold, we’ll replace him. And you’d imagine his replacement would be a first XI player… ahead of Woolfy. That’s the sad reality. |

Could you blame him? Very unlikely to be first choice next season. |
 | Forum Reply | Interesting McKenna quote at 13:36 26 May 2025
You honestly think that was O’Leary’s job? If you still think a chairman has a critical role at a football club then I don’t know what to say. It’s a ceremonial role at best. Ashton is held accountable by the ownership group on a near-daily basis would be my suggestion. As for transfers, who stays or who goes is secondary to the mindset of those we have here come September. Is the group hungry and angry enough to got that extra mile in tight games, to run the extra yard and not think they’re too good for it. That’s where I have faith in McKenna. Get that right and the rest will follow. |
