 | News Comment | Town Complete Egeli Signing at 22:34:06
Agree with other posts that Mark Ashton and the recruitment team deserve great credit for this and the other signings this week. Egeli looks to have enormous potential and can become a future star of this club. Looking forward to seeing him action but at 19 and this being his first taste of english football, we will have to give him time to adapt. |
 | News Comment | Town Complete Signing of Norwich Midfielder Nunez at 10:10:36
Fantastic video, especially the wink at the end! Obviously a very confident character - I think he will bring an extra dimension of creativity and progression to the CM area. Welcome Marcelino - you are already a club legend! |
 | News Comment | Town Agree Fee For Norwegian Youngster Egeli at 10:00:17
Nobody can doubt or question the ambition of Mark Ashton and the club after what has happened in the past week and the fact that we are doing our business before the last minute rush on Monday, is impressive. Egeli has been linked with top Premier League clubs and to get him is a real coup for the club - he is a young player with a very high potential ceiling, particularly when KM gets to coach him. The fact that he plays on the right but cuts in on his left foot, makes hime a direct replacement for Hutchinson and gives us much better balance on the right hand side. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: Matusiwa Settling in Well in Challenging Role at 22:20:24
Considering the tough two opening fixtures, I think Matusiwa has actually done well. He is very tenacious and quick into the tackle, which is essential to his role and although he has been caught on the ball a couple of times (particularly B'ham match) you can see that moving forward, he will be good on the ball and not give it up cheaply. I expect him to go up another level against Preston. |
 | News Comment | Hutchinson: Ipswich Will Always Have a Place in My Heart at 21:30:22
Like any fan, nobody likes to see a good player leave and the "not being available to play" thing is not something that us Town fans are used to but nobody can really blame any player for wanting to play in the Premier League / increase his pay etc. Just look at Isaac and Wissa - it happens at the top level and don't forget Szmodics did similar last year, to get his Premier League to us. This is part and parcel of modern day football. Omari played a vital role in the second half of the Championship campaign and was the X Factor which got us over the line to promotion, particularly at the end and we should always be thankful for that. A really exciting player to watch and it was great to have him for those two years. Thank you and good luck Omari and we now all move on. Time to get behind the boys tomorrow. |
 | News Comment | Birmingham City 1-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 22:57:58
People are being way too critical. Yes we didn’t play well but we stood up them and the crowd and came away with a point. Good teams don’t loose, even when they don’t play well and there won’t be many teams that come away from Birmingham City with points. Agree that Morsey was missed tonight but our CMs dug in against tough opponents. We have Cajuste and Akpom to come in and surely another 3 or 4 signings to come, so reinforcements will be there. Birmingham will be up near the top of the division, so let’s take the point and move on. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: Townsend Injury ACL, Davis and Philogene Doubts For Birmingham at 15:27:06
Really bad news as Conor has shown himself excellent competition at LB. The only good thing is it’s happened with the Transfer Window still open for a few weeks and so gives us the chance to get someone in. Good news that Philogene’s injury is not serious. It’s amazing how quickly things can change with injuries and shows why a big squad of quality players is so important for the grind of a championship season. The one thing that I don’t understand is years ago, there never seemed to be this amount of injuries. Bobby Robson’s glory team of the early eighties had the starting 11 plus a couple of others and they did a whole season of more league games, FA cup games (and replays) 2 legged league cup games, 2 legged UEFA games and all on bad pitches with tackles from behind allowed ! It must be the speed that players are running at these days, which is obviously much faster. It means any contact, twist or turn is much more likely to cause an injury. |
 | News Comment | Hutchinson and Davis Miss Out at Auxerre at 18:14:48
agree Wonky - Omari played the other night and isn't the type to be petulant. Standard practice for a club to leave out a player who is subject to a bid (Hayden Hackney was left out of the Boro team the other day when we put bid in) |
 | News Comment | Hackney Turns Down Town Move at 16:23:03
Obviously disappointing that he has turned us down but probably not that surprising TBH Credit the ambition from Mark Ashton and the club to try and bring him in and I am sure they will have a plan B & C for the CM spots (sounds like already moving on Cajuste) |
 | News Comment | Premier League Trio Linked With O'Shea at 15:48:14
I don't think he would want to go to any of the promoted clubs and have yet another relegation on his CV but Wolves, or any of the other "established 17" would probably interest him. Obviously we don't want O'Shea to leave, as he was one of our best players last season but if there is a release clause and he does, Wolfenden looked excellent at championship level and we would sign another good RCB for 4-5 million to replace O'Shea, so it might not be the end of the world. That being said, I really do hope O'Shea stays ! |
 | News Comment | Delap's Chelsea Move Confirmed at 23:22:08
Nice words about Town from Liam Delap and nobody should have any ill feeling towards him as he moves on. He was the main reason that for half the season, we looked like we stood a chance of staying up. We all wish that we could have got the "true" fee for him but these days, the players / agents call the shots, so we / Mark Ashton had no choice. |
 | News Comment | Al-Hamadi Close to West Brom Loan at 11:39:04
Good news. No reason why he can’t potentially have a decent loan spell in the Championship, with a fresh start / clean slate. This move would surely mean that we are freeing up a space in the squad for an incoming signing, probably a striker. I can’t believe that we would go down to just two strikers for the remainder of the season. Unlikely to be a “big name” as they will likely be behind Delap & Hirst. The only exception is possibly Latte Lath ? Wanted to come here in the summer and we have a history of going back in for previous targets ? |
 | News Comment | Town Finally Complete Philogene Signing at 23:49:26
Welcome Jaden and looking forward to seeing you getting the fans off their seats giving us another attacking dimension. Our England U21 forward line should be very exciting to watch. Nice video on the club Facebook page with Billie Jean soundtrack ! |
 | News Comment | McKenna: Philogene Really Keen to Come to Town at 15:17:11
Agree with blues1. Ridiculous talk of him needing to hit the ground running. He is a young player with enormous potential and he might possibly take a bit of a time to adjust / get used to our system, as most players do when they go to a new club. KMcK has to be careful what he says but his comments would suggest that Jaden is, and has been, very keen on coming to Portman Road. The fact that KMcK is commenting at all, means that the deal will get done, more than likely by the end of today. |
 | News Comment | Philogene Deal Looking Closer After Villa Complete Malen Signing at 18:36:10
Let’s look on the positive side here folks. We are about to match / surpass our transfer record on a long term McKenna target, who is a current England U21 international. He could well turn out to be the extra firepower which keeps us up. Transfers are sometimes simple and sometimes more complicated. It doesn’t matter, as long as we get our man, which we definitely will. Let’s enjoy the signing of a player who was a top performer in the Championship last season. |
