PFA might just have made a bad situation worse
at 10:29 5 Apr 2020

“The players are mindful that as PAYE employees, the combined tax on their salaries is a significant contribution to funding essential public services – which are especially critical at this time,” the PFA statement read. “Taking a 30% salary deduction will cost the Exchequer substantial sums. This would be detrimental to our NHS and other government-funded services.

The above extract shows a level of entitlement and arrogance I've never seen.
It does prove that our wonderful game has gone.

Maybe we are better off in L1 away from the self serving greedy mongers in the Prem.......

Sorry but I'd light a ruddy great big fire under their backsides

Give us a chance.

I'm going to do some phys and then the wagon is getting a service. JC's reign nearly killed it! It clocked up some serious miles.

I'll let you know when it's time for 'wagons roll'.

PFA..do it now!
at 17:56 3 Apr 2020

It's not enough.

They need to do more and leave the money in the club so the other employees can keep their own jobs.

I'm furious about this. They get a chance and what do they do? Call the butler for another glass of chilled Angel tears with roasted swan.....

Pathetic.

Makes is a bigger insult.
It's got to be 75% in my mind, after all it's not going to be for long.....3,4,5,6, months tops.

Tell their members to follow the lead.

I've just seen that they are now taking a 30% cut which is an insult. That actually makes it worse.

30% when you are on £much is rubbing it in.

Who’s been directly affected by the situation?
at 16:00 3 Apr 2020

I was furloughed today and my wife is 50/50. I gave a strong hint I would accept it. I also declined my pay rise which should have been given to me in December but will take it when I return instead.

We're lucky that it won't change our lifestyle but we were due to start a housing development which has been delayed. The main contractor has had to furlough their staff. It sits hard with us as we would want to do as much as we can.

I think Mrs H and I may see what we can do when they come back. Life is about giving and the gesture, even if modest, can make such a huge difference.

Edit:
We both work for charities. My CEO, COO and the rest of the staff (50% remain to support beneficiaries) have taken a 20% pay cut.

However, I think one bloke who works on my team, I'm his boss, has refused to accept a 20% pay cut which won't look good when we have a coffee when I return.

PFA..do it now!

But in a lengthy statement, the PFA dismisses claims that it is blocking wage deferrals, insisting that it is instead looking for a “structured and unified approach” to the issue. Talks between the PFA, LMA, EFL and Premier League are due to continue on Friday.

It's amazing that the PFA want to drag this through umpteen committees and steering groups when all they need to do is.....

"Yes, we will reduce the Prem and Champ players wages by 75% or the League average, whichever is lower."

Done....what would you like me to deal with next?
(See, it's the old soldier in me. No faffing around just get it done and move on)

Makes me sick.

Let me think about your reply.

If that had been posted by a forum member known for their left wing anti-capitalist views you would have dropped your pants and taken one.

However, as I am a Tory, albeit on the left of the party, you think it's ok for ambulance chasing lawyers to elicit spurious claims.
The only losers are businesses who get hammered on professional insurances. A lot of people will pile in milk it as much as they can....

There may be some rogue employers....but...

A chap at work has a member of the family in law. A Partner in a regional firm.

Lots of lawyers are already getting their 'did your employer follow the guidelines?' pitch ready for daytime TV.

The depths. I'd put them next to greedy footballers who take no pay cut and watch the real workers get furloughed.......

(what's the best smiley for 'give me strength and can I have one where I am loading a pistol please)

I use it to help me sleep. I've got PTSD and get nasty nightmares related to it.

It doesn't stop them but it does at least allow me to get some sleep before it all begins again.

I have a peppermint cbd tea as well but that's expensive, £1 a bag! So I keep that to as and when during the day.
There are times when I get hyper aware and panicky during the day. If it's after 4pm I can have a beer, not joking either, but take that tea and I can tell you it works.

I used to have diazepam when it got epically bad but stopped after a couple of courses as I was nervous of dependency.

I'll give it a 10/10 with the caveat that that's for my own situation. I'm not suggesting you use it. Please take advice first.
