Can we just stop defending Paul Cook now?
at 14:49 2 Dec 2021

1) Cup games only count when the Cook cultists and apologists say they do (i.e. when we actually win them)

2) Last season doesn't count because the cult of Cook say it wasn't his players and he couldn't possibly be expected to get a tune out a side that was 1pt off the play-offs

3) We are no longer the top scorers.

If Cook was to get sacked in the near future
at 14:46 2 Dec 2021

Warnock would get us out of this division no problem, and then consolidate us in the Championship, after which we could look to move on. Would be a perfect appointment. Horses for courses.

On the assumption that we lose to Charlton and.....
at 14:39 2 Dec 2021

Yes, this is my thinking too. It makes sense on multiple fronts: Gamechanger very much want the connection with the fans and not sacking a manager that's roundly getting booed and jeered would jeopardise that, secondly I think Ashton and co. are relatively patient in so much that they will give Cook as much time as is possible without completely throwing the season away, thirdly sacking him around Christmas/New Year gives the new guy some manoeuvrability in the transfer market.

Is there a chance a Cup run could fire up our season....
at 18:39 30 Nov 2021

Spot on. The happy-clappers and Cook cultists keep changing the goalposts. Just look at how expectations have been greatly diminished since the start of the season: top 2 became top 6, top 6 became challenging for top 6, challenging for top 6 became ''it's a transition season'' etc.

How are we going to try and undermine the manager today?
at 18:35 30 Nov 2021

Take a look at his win % perhaps?

Did anyone else think we wouldn't go up this season?
at 18:34 30 Nov 2021

No, it's called having standards - something many elements of our fanbase don't have. We absolutely should be in the play-offs at a bare minimum, with top 2 being very much a realistic prospect.

I'm not understanding the Cook out malarky

We're 11th in League 1 and 7 points off the play-offs, and yet you can't possibly understand why anyone would be Cook Out? Give your head a wobble mate.

Finidi vs Celina
at 23:00 29 Nov 2021

Celina's wins hands down. The keeper was fully committed for Finidi's one, whilst for Celina's the keeper wasn't too far off his line - only an enigma like Celina would even see the opportunity. The touch from Celina to control the ball was absolute class as well.

Warnock. He'd walk this league, then get us consolidated in the Championship before we can then move on to a new manager.

Must be hard as a Cook cultist seeing his flaws and failings getting exposed on the daily.

Yeah, just shut up and get behind the team! Cook is doing a marvellous job with his 29.3% win percentage and you should be grateful we are not in the relegation zone! #happyclapper #fakefans

Ok, come on then…
at 15:57 24 Nov 2021

...and here we go. Yet another example of the excuse-making culture and tolerance of failure that ITFC needs to get rid of. The idea that was always a ''2 year project'' is utterly laughable. Do you seriously think the owners spent big bucks on players in the summer just so we can sit 13th? I don't think so. Also probably spending a large whack on loan players like Celina, Bonne and Walton which further disproves the ''2 year project'' myth. Minimum requirement is probably top 6 and that is looking more distant than ever. Fortunately, we now have owners that won't put up with mediocrity and underachievement like a large section of so-called 'fans'. Cook WILL be gone by Xmas if things stay as they are.

"I think we will be in the Play-Offs" a question....
at 16:40 23 Nov 2021

It should be better than ''in with a good chance''. Most fans were saying top 2 at the start of the season. Now that's been downgraded to ''might get in the top 6'. This really illustrates just how badly we are doing this season with an expensively assembled squad and one of the biggest wage budgets in the league. Unacceptable.

Are we a soft touch?
at 16:31 23 Nov 2021

Absolutely we are. Literally been saying this for YEARS. Evans got away with mediocrity, failure, false promises and neglect precisely because fans kept silent. The first serious anti-Evans chant I heard was at the Fleetwood home game in 19/20 (just before COVID). Until then, most fans either just happy-clapped, grumbled quietly or stayed away. Take this season as well for example, the expectations have been significantly downgraded compared to what was largely expected at the start of the season. Many were saying top 2, then after the poor start it became top 6, now some 'fans' are saying ''it's a 2 year project''. It's embarrassing actually.

I do in fact blame supporters for some part of the decline, yes. Happy-clapping and making excuses for failure and underachievement makes the whole vibe around the club one of tolerance and, indeed acceptance of, failure. I have no doubt that if much more noise was made during the Evans era shambles then he would've sold-up far sooner. As for the present, the same happy-clappers are now making excuses for Cook and his gis a job mates. They seem to find it utterly bewildering why other fans have the audacity to question a man who has a 30% win percentage whilst managing ITFC in the third-tier of English football. I'm not saying we should be creating a toxic atmosphere at matches, but simply pointing out that the new 'Cook cult' is cringeworthy and is not in the interests of the club. Remember, it's Ipswich Town FC, not Paul Cook FC.

Basically back where we were after Plymouth, aren't we?
at 14:48 21 Nov 2021

I always look at fixtures month-by-month. Most people said we needed 10-12 points from November if we are to maintain any hope for top 6. So far we are on 4, meaning we MUST beat Rotherham and Crewe to stay on track for the minimum requirement. Personally, I can only see us drawing with Rotherham and beating Crewe i.e. doing just enough to remain remotely competitive and keeping Cook in a job.

Unfortunately for me Cook has to go
at 14:39 21 Nov 2021

Spot on. 'Fans' defending Cook's record need to give their heads a wobble. A 30% win percentage is nowhere near good enough for ITFC in League 1. Our longest winning streak is 2 GAMES! How anyone can objectively look at where we are and say ''we're moving in the right direction'' is mindboggling. Also, you're absolutely right to mention the fact that standards have dropped considerably since the start of the season - in pre-season most fans' target was top 2, then after the poor start it became top 6, now some are saying ''it's a 2 year project''. Utterly laughable and pathetic at times.
