 | News Comment | Keane Backing Goalline Technology Call at 13:40:51
I think part of the problem with the current England squad stems from the number of foreign players currently residing in the Premier League. They've all got their own styles of play that they bring with them from their home countries, and the few members of the England squad that play alongside them day in day out in the PL appear to have become accustomed to said styles. It's as though we've forgotten our own style of play, hence why the team just couldn't gel together at this year's World Cup (Terry and Upson vs Germany springs to mind). I think we should consider implementing restrictions on the number of foreign players that can be picked in the matchday squad, that way the younger English players can have more opportunities to prove themselves rather than be swept under the carpet of foreign players. Oh, and I think Sepp Blatter should resign from FIFA. He has been holding back football as we know it by unconditionally rejecting countless calls for goalline technology to be introduced. His arguments in the past about goalline technology being too expensive and how there shouldn't be technology in football are just plain wrong. I realise that he has arranged a meeting for next month to discuss the possibility of introducing it, but it's too little too late for me. As for his so-called ‘spokesperson', Nicolas Maingot, he's just a puny little joke of a man. He's got as much charisma as Peter O'Hanraha-hanrahan from 'The Day Today'. Sack him. |

 | News Comment | Derbies Switch at 16:11:21
@Lightningboy Maybe so: but according to the Football Rivalries Report, compiled in 2008, the East Anglian (a.k.a. 'Old Farm') derby is supposed to be the 2nd fiercest rivalry in the country. Only the Black Country derby (West Brom vs Wolves) tops it. You can read more about it here: http://www.footballpools.com/football-fever/index.html One of the factors they took into account when deliberating this was to do with 'off-the-field factors, such as media coverage of the rivalry', I think the very fact we're posting about it in our droves just compounds it. |
 | News Comment | Newcastle Title No Surprise to Keane at 11:10:39
"Anything that'll help me to see a rose-tinted view of reality when really all around me is chaos and desparation. Thirty quids worth please... ;)" Judging by mistleyblue's avatar, I think thechangingman will regret that in the long run... |
 | News Comment | Keane: Walters Should Be in the Premiership at 15:06:26
Good to see that Walters is getting some praise from Keane, might give him a confidence boost needed for some decent performances. Oh, and I'm not sure that Walters quite earns enough at the moment to be able to 'pay for Ipswich', bleedblue, but a man can dream after all ;)! |

Perhaps one of those Protektorvests I've heard about is in order, should you end up wearing 'that shirt'... |

 | News Comment | Colback Keen on Staying at 16:19:16
It's great to see that Colback wants to stay. He seems to be in the right frame of mind to help us out of this situation we're in at the moment. So let's not get distracted by bluechick, lets just hope that we're kept abreast of the transfer situation during January. Oh, wait... |
 | News Comment | Keane: We Could Have Scored Seven at 23:07:51
lol leagueonescum bjc - imagine where we'd be if people like you got actually behind Keane and the Town (and if Civelli were fit). |
 | News Comment | Keane: We Deserved the Win at 23:05:09
Perhaps with the comments he's been coming up with, UEFA81's name should've been UEFA93 (look it up, you'll understand). |
 | News Comment | Keane: We Deserved the Win at 12:23:23
^^ That may be the case, but the real question is, what can we achieve now under Keane? |
 | News Comment | Keane: We Deserved the Win at 15:14:12
Agreed, Garvan looked like he was really up for it against Sheff Wed. I'd say that his time out of the team probably gave him the kick up the arse he needed to fight for his place, and hopefully we'll see more of the same this Sunday. |

"chislehurstblue - there's much more to life than money you know." UEFA81: you're right, there is more to it - actually playing for a half-decent team. Besides who likes being in the relegation places? Assuming these rumours of big things to come (for CW) in the shape of a move to the likes of Arsenal, Man U etc are true, then I doubt that CW will see it as much of a big footballing move to further his playing skills with other top youth players as he would see it as an opportunity for a bigger paycheck. In which case I don't think that Roy can really do much about it if he decides he wants to go. No-one likes an unhappy player who will most likely not be at his best until he gets what he wants (Cristiano Ronaldo's last season at Man U springs to mind). The best we may be able to hope for is that we get a decent price for him if he leaves, although I'm sure like most people on here will feel I do hope he doesn't. |
