Not a great day today. Lots of work to be done.
at 07:13 3 Aug 2025

We just played a top flight french side off the park and made them look useless.

You can only judge our transfer business when the window closes. The period between the season starting and the window closing will be the liveliest.

He has a degenerative knee condition. which is why you heard Mckenna say we are just managing something with jens on many occasions last season. if he was fully fit he would be out of our reach. hopefully we get another cm and he is more of a bit part player

How many games did he finish? That is the concern.

I wonder if we'll end up regretting letting Morsy go?
at 05:29 2 Aug 2025

No, he was poor last year and we have replaced him with Matusiwa. O'shea is the new captain.

Taylor and Matusiwa will be more than enough for Birmingham. We will get further CMs by the time the window closes.

Ali is interesting one, he can play 9 and in any of the supporting striking roles. But I do think we need a solid 9 to cover Hirst.

The Clarke injury is sad, although it night be something unrelated to his medical history. He never got fully fit after that double op last season.

I think we will have to name 25 and use them all.

Sadly for Burns I think he is done with us. 30 years old, final year of his contract and not back until October. Even then it will take him months to get back up to speed. I tink we get him fit and then see if we can loan him out in January.

With Young, Johnson and O'Shea we are well stocked for RB cover.

There is going to be some tough choices
Walton released Slicker loaned out
Burns not getting a number
Humpreys and Baggott loaned out
One of Broadhead or Hutchinson sold
One of Clarke or Johnson sold

I worry about Jens fitness, never played 90 for us and the championship is tough. If we sign 3CMs in total, Taylor makes it 4 and Barbrook is 5th who wont count towards the 25

Both or neither and 2 different CMs. We need to sign at least 3 CMs after losing 4 from last seasons squad

Training ground progress? Any updates? Incentive for new players?
at 09:14 1 Aug 2025

Yes but its all a massive building site at the moment. They are doing stuff across the whole site; pitches, entrances, roads and buildings

Hillsborough is a huge old ground, it hasn't been touched for 30 years. Yes the current owner is a joke but maintenance/upkeep issues go back further than Chansiri. He was rich idiot who bought a club and got in over his means

Only because there has been a string of wealthy people willing to throw money at a club.

PR is on rented ground, it is the land that is worth something. There is also the training ground land, which is owned by the club. He didn't have to be an asset stripper, merely a business owner that hits hard times and is forced to sell assets by its administrators. Evans writing off the loan was always happening, it was merely an accounting practice to fund the club, he had to sell it on clear of debt.

It's a little like Evans and us. Buy in at a certain point in time where you think a certain amount of investment will move the club on. Football moves around you and gets more expensive, then you can no longer afford to make the club competitive.

Fortunately for us Evans couldn't do anything with Portman road. Chansari could do something with the land Hillsborough sits on.

At the end of the day clubs are only a business. Who would ultimately take the liability for a failed business, if we say we aren't going to let them fail.

I think it is going to end badly. There are no mechanisms to save Wednesday, only him selling the club on. He can sit tight let the club get thrown out of the football league and then sell the land off.
