Spot on- the "summer school" is exactly what it is now- Just before the holidays the kids and parents are lined up and given "flyers". Last season, the kids had ridiculously low amounts of games against "proper teams"- ie Norwich, Colchester etc during the training season(these games are ALWAYS at home- to save money on travel I guess) HOWEVER, if they PAID a fee during the school holidays they were GUARANTEED a game against a "proper team"- so the kids that were decent but whose parents couldn't afford it, didn't get to play, yet the better off kids did, regardless of ability. I won't mention names as it is not fair, but there is one coach that has been there years who says that he feels it really is the end of the quality coming through now, it is just a "cash cow" now. |

It is not the "youngest" of the youngsters, just the ones of "contract signing age"- we let one go to Chelsea the season before last (his name escapes me) for big money. I only know this because my boy has been at the club since he was 8 and I have gotten to know the academy coaches really well. They are so gutted about it all. We are losing players left right and centre, mainly to our rivals, not Norwich now, they were all going there, but now Jason Curtis has come over from there as we were losing so many players to them, but now we are losing lots of youngsters we used to be able to attract because the academy is in a mess. They are staying with their local clubs now, Colchester, Southend, Cambridge etc as there is no difference in the coaching anymore and it used to be far better here, and of course, if they stay local, they do not have to travel. |

For many years ITFC academy has "propped up the club", selling the youngsters has always been part of what we do, and we accept that as fans. However, what Marcus Evans has failed to make common knowledge in his "5 year plan" is that the academy coaches and staff have been told to prepare for a huge cut in the funding to the academy "if we do not go up this season" This is added to the fact that the "scouts" have been encouraged to "drop standards a bit" in order to attract "fee paying youngsters", meaning that parents who want to pay for their child to get coaching/training at ITFC are more likely to get places than parents who cannot afford it, regardless of ability. The coaches (trust me I know first hand) have already noticed a "huge drop in the standard" of the youngsters arriving at ITFC. They are ALREADY struggling to find youngsters fit for the academy proper BEFORE the budget cuts. The coaches are leaving in droves as they are being paid minimum wage, the administrator left as he was paid £18k a year for around 60 hours and the scouts are "paid" an ITFC tracksuit and 2 season tickets per year! Oh and we also "actively tout" our best academy players each year to our rivals to fund the academy! This has been supported by Lambert in full because he is another Evans puppet. Just one question, where is our future now, we don't buy players and we won't be producing nowhere near the quality that we have in the past. Just another nail in the coffin. Boring at best- wow how you ramble. I love people like you, who call anyone that expresses an opinion a "so called fan". It is people like you, renewing blindly, silently suffering, that cause the state the club is in. People "like you", allow "people like Evans" the chance to prey on their loyalty. I am not one of these people that believes we should be brilliant just because of who we are, however, Evans has ruined this club, yes he puts in £5-6 million a year, BUT he also charges us up to 7.2% interest per year on money he could lend for FREE as it is loans from his other companies- work that out Sherlock, ITFC could borrow from a financial institution for a MAXIMUM AVERAGE of 3.2%!!! This is how the club is run, but "people like you" would rather we keep quiet! Drone on buddy! |

My 12 year old son has threatened to call childline if I take him to anymore Ipswich games, I think I will be safe for the rest of the season as i have had enough, Ipswich is in my blood but I can't give Evans any more of my hard earned............. |

As much as I hate Evans, Labert picked that shower tonight, he is as arrogant as MM but far more clueless, Keane is the new Jonathan Douglas lol |

I take it this is a wind up? The academy is due to be halved at the end of the season if we do not go up! The coaches and players are leaving in droves from the academy. We actively tout our best players from the academy each season to premier league teams and our rivals to "finance" the academy- I know this first hand as my son is at the academy. The coaches despise Evans and Lambert. Those that are left anyway. |
 | Forum Thread | Who are the REAL fans? at 18:43 29 Feb 2020
I have read how ITFC fans are "not real fans" by booing today. Despite travelling 5 hours there and possibly more back. Are the real fans- "the ones who remain silent" or "the ones who vent their anger" It is my humble opinion that a certain Marcus Evans needs to know that the Town fans have had enough now. Venting your opinion does not make you a "fair weather" fan, it shows you care. What is ruining this once magnificent club is actually how patient the fans have been. Marcus Evans preys on the fans who love the club and lindly renew season after season. It is about time we stood up together and boycotted games to hit him in the only place he cares about, his pocket. |
 | Forum Reply | Those boo-ing and having a go at Chambers at the end at 18:07 29 Feb 2020
Really? Perhaps you are right! Around 20,000 of us to be precise, turning up week after week to put up with what we are dished out? Renewing each season because we know, deep down that we are being fleeced and having the p**s taken out of us every season by managers players and an owner that couldn't care less, but it's in us so we still go. I think that the only morons are those that remain silent, the real fans will start venting their anger soon because they don't want the club to slump any further into the mire. |
