in the South East of the island, Ragusa, Modica, Noto and Scicli are nice little towns, all rebuilt in Baroque style after devastating earthquakes. ortigia a part of Syracuse is also lovely. |

Ooh, don't say that last line to the Sicilians, a proud people, they do not consider themselves as a part of Southern Italy |

Driving in Sicily is an experience. The only rule is that there are no rules. Think like the natives and comply with that rule and you are okay. I have been there many times. Driving there is fun. I like it, you carve people up, they carve you up, the horn is very optional, indicators a no no. It is the only time I have come across this situation. During a hail storm all the drivers stopped their cars under motorway bridges so their cars were not hit by hail. Just could not happen in the UK. Everyone thinks they are an F1 driver. |

Poor idea. Puts to bed any encroachment issues as there would be no point. Presumably it is a dead ball once the keeper saves. But what if it hits the post, is the ball still live ? |

wouldn't be suprised if Ainsley Harrott might gets the role. He and Dent male/female black white meet diversity wishes media people are keen on. Like Si King, Ainsley has the same matey vibe that would give nervous amateur chefs a bit of heart. Grace then does the straight man role (in a comedic sense). Could be they prefer someone with a professional chef background rather than tv chef though. |
 | Forum Reply | Lamine Yamal and the party dwarves at 17:36 15 Jul 2025
exactly the point made by one of them. From the Blaugranes Barca site. “I don’t understand why there’s so much hype. We’re normal people, who do what we want, in an absolutely legal way. “For a couple of years now these people have been harming us, they want to ban a job that we like, and in no case have they offered jobs or courses to the affected people. We work as entertainers. Why can’t we do it? Because of our physical condition? “We know what our limit is and we will never exceed it: we are not fairground monkeys.” The entertainer also spoke about what the job had entailed at Yamal’s party. “We dance, we distribute drinks, we do magic ... there are many types of shows,” he added and went on to explain that after working for an hour they were allowed to join the party. “We were one more, everyone had a great time. All this mess was formed just because it was Lamine Yamal’s party.” |

Sorry, but the finances were in a shocking state when Labour left the premises. debt had already risen from 35 to 70% in a 4 year period due to Brown's overspending. Darling did his best to hold it together and was a quite sensible chancellor. but over-spending leaves a legacy, hence the austerity years. The 2008 financial collapse also had a bearing, financial bail-outs etc. but trying to pigeon hole all the financial woes to such a strict timeline as the Tories being in office is absurd. |

I don't want them built in areas of oustanding natural beauty really, bearing in mind they are visible for miles around, particularly the new generation mega ones. And they are talking about 41 of them. |
 | Forum Reply | Climate change: How would we have coped in a different era? at 20:07 14 Jul 2025
it is actually 100 coal fired power stations per year built in China. But China is so fast moving that when it does grasp the nettle of climate change, it can react fast e.g the roll out of HS railways and mega cities built in record time. The smog and air pollution that was a massive issue 15-20 years ago has been tackled and reduced, ironically having a knock on effect of higher ground temperatures due to the action of the air pollution effectively shielding the earth from the sun rays. I would personally be more concerned about India and Africa. |

I am talking about the Pont du Gard rather than aquaducts in general which certainly were and still are common and blend into nature harmoniou,ly. generally being single arch high. More harmonious than wind turbines do. Segovia aquaduct is another nice example. |

The Pont Du Gard is made of local materials and is a one off whereas turbines are completely ubiquitous and everywhere. It is a false argument. BTW Avignon is on the River Rhone and the Pont Du Gard is 15 miles away from Aignon. |

He is raw in terms of experience, a lot of his appearances are as a sub and are against low grade opposition (all be it in the Conference league). I watched him play for Barca on tv, strong with good workrate, Hirst type number 9, will be a very decent player if he gets gametime to develop. |

swallows and swifts are quite different really , swallows are smaller with pronounced long forked tail. Swifts and housemartins look more similar in shape. Sadly I can not remember the last time I saw any of them locally, which is a shame as they are all superb fliers . |

I suspect they come back to where they have been successful in the past. We have always had them as the garden is surrounded by tall poplar trees which they seem to like. Whether they are the same birds or not, hard to say, but I think it likely. Sometimes all the local rooks get together for a massive rook rave and it can be deafening with a couple of hundred birds chatting away. Don't notice them so much in wintertime, but with the sun rising later then, it would not matter so much anyway. |
