So he was managing Ipswich AND Scunthorpe from May 2019, I knew there had to be an explanation for his performance... |
 | News Comment | Sheepshanks New Suffolk FA President at 08:50:57
I remember watching town away at Arsenal the year we went down. (I think it may've been Darren Ambrose's debut, but happy to be corrected on that one). Anyway at half time Sheepshanks came into the away stand to shake the hand of every fan that had travelled and thank us for our support. Top man. |
 | News Comment | Former Blues Centre-Half McAuley Retires at 22:46:24
Linkboy13...re-read my post, I didn't misquote you. That 'both players went on to better themselves and play in the premier league' - is true. I agree that it wasn't 'just luck'. I also agree that Delaney would 'walk into this team'. However we're currently playing in the third tier of English football....as such I'd suggest that quite a number of ex-players from our illustrious history would 'walk into this team'. The fact that after they left Ipswich both players went on to have good careers at mid-table top flight club(s) is great, but isn't enough to be labelled them 'one of the best'. To be one of the best you need to have done it here, not at some other point in your career. Straight off the bat Hunter, Beattie, Butcher, Osman, Mowbray, Baxter, Hermann, etc were all streets ahead, hit their heights in a town shirt, and did so in the top flight and in Europe. Anyway I shouldn't be arguing this here, well done Gareth, enjoy your retirement! |

Good player for the club, wish him all the best in the future. (Not sure I'd go as far as to describe Delaney / MacAuley as 'one of the best central defensive partnerships...the club has ever seen' though!) |

 | News Comment | Norwood Won't Celebrate If He Scores Against Tranmere at 20:15:33
It's beyond me why celebrating, or not, a goal against a former club has become the sole barometer of 'respect'. If you score, you're happy, no point pretending you're not, that's not respectful, that's just misrepresentation. Exceptions of course (Dennis Law being the most famous), but watching a professional footballer desperately trying to mask a grin or fight back his delight in some misplaced attempt to show respect is nearly always embarrassing. Anyway I hope to see Norwood attempt to achieve this multiple times come Saturday. |

On a different note; any chance we could temporarily remove the 'last match' window from the homepage? Not sure I can bear to look at it every time I check twtd for the next three months..... |
