The fans are tired Mr Cook. They have had years of people claiming this, and claiming that, all of them have never lived up to their words. So you will find, that when we have a run like the past 5-6 games, the fans will very quickly default to anticipating another false dawn. Whilst Sunderland was a good performance, unfortunately, it mean't nothing as we lost the game 2-0.
Eddie1985, you are now arguing your point of view well. There is a serious risk that if after 2/3 years we have not made the desired progress, people are going to get twitchy. You are right, it has not been 15 years of toxicity, that was an exaggeration, there were some good years in the early days of the Evans era for sure. Constructive criticism is very useful, essential even.
All I would say is try and keep in mind what we are trying to achieve now:
TimmyH, if you read between the lines from the comments from the players you will see, they actually like being supported. That makes them feel good and WANT to perform for the club. You may think they are all paid very well and should want this anyway, but in real life, players (and the managers) are human beings and do get effected by comments like yours.
What people write on social media / internet platforms has a huge effect on people, a quick news search will confirm this, and the sooner we have some sort of regulation / accountability the better. Paul Cook also appears to be quite sensitive about what is written about him, and I would rather his full focus is on getting us promoted.
We have had 15 years of Toxic negativity at this football club, I just think it would be nice if we could just try supporting the manager and the team this year (100%, regardless of your views), as I think a lot of people are fed up with negativity. It does not mean anyone is in a delusional state about where we are at, we all see the same things. If we can all pull together, we will be far more likely to see the results we all desperately want.
FYI - I have been posting on this board for 30 years.
There will always be the keyboard warriors out there who will try and bring negativity, but they are not true supporters. Even when more regulation comes in, we will always have to put up with these people.
Overall, the positivity is very good right now, we need to keep pushing hard to keep the momentum up.
TimmyH and DaGremloid, we don't need constant negativity at this football club, we don't need so called 'supporters' (clue in the name) sniping at every word that comes out of the managers mouth. What you are doing is detrimental and quite frankly, we don't need supporters like you.
Thank you Ed for supporting this initiative: PackOutPR. It is a fantastic scheme, truly well done.
Any chance you can you get Mark Ashton to sort out the Sir Bobby Robson Stand? We need a proper singing stand at Portman Road, with a well designed roof so we can generate some decent noise.
When they replace 'the old North Stand', they killed the atmosphere. There is this horrible concrete block roof in the back part of the Lower part of the SBR stand, and the roof in the Upper part of SBR stand is too high up for the people singing in the lower section to benefit from it. Also, over the years, a lot of the middle sections of SBR lower have been populated by very loyal supporters, but not necessarily 'singers'. So we now section 6 (Blue Action) stuff down the corner of the lower part of the stand, which makes the job of generating noise twice as hard.
The whole SBR stand design is not well suited to generating decent noise.
If you take a look at the noise generated at the Wycombe (away) game, and Charlton (away) will be the same. We want this noise and atmosphere at home, every week.
We are definitely a top six side now, no doubt about it. The question now is how do we become a top two side so we win games like today.
Is it more time on the training pitch or. Further strengthening required? Difficult to say as the defence were excellent today as was the goalkeeper.
I think we did not win today as we were not quite 100% commitment, we Need to really want it more than they do in these matches and that means 1st the ball, closing down and winning the 2nd balls. We did not do this enough today.
I really hate this mickey mouse cup. To add in U21's teams devalues this competition even further than it already is. Forget Chelsea U21's, we want to take on their 1st team, they can't even beat Burnley.
Eddie1985 you are missing the point. It is not JUST Paul Cook's job to get us promoted, EVERYONE has to play their part. The supporters, the players, the physio's, the recruitment, the coaches, the manager (of course), the CEO, the Chairman, Peter Reid, the owners, and this Schulz chap who I hope will be very happy at how the project is going, and the overall positivity at the club right now.
Sunderland away, Wigan away, we ARE needed, make no mistake about it. We need to take what we had at Portsmouth and Wycombe to those two grounds as well. Cancel your weddings, cancel the birthday parties, postpone the christenings, this is the moment we have been waiting for, the tide has turned.
Straight talking, no nonsense. People can moan about our current league position, but no-one in the management or squad is happy with that position, it is quite clear. We have a team of winners now, and Hayden can play a major part on moving us up the league. Quality player, imo same level as Cresswell and Mings.
