 | News Comment | Head of Analysis Leaves Town at 12:40:47
Without trying to sound horrible, if his analysis had anything to do with Muric signing, perhaps it’s best if he does move on. |
 | News Comment | Town in Loan Talks For Chelsea Striker at 13:54:41
Without being rude to anyone, I think we need a reality check here. There are 4 ideal aims for bringing a striker to a premier league club, as far as I can see: 1. premier league experience 2. a proven goalscorer 3. affordable (transfer, wages, loan fee etc) 4. a player who wants to be at your club Sadly, you can't tick all four of those boxes! We simply aren't going to get a 30 goal a year premier league striker who wants to come here, certainly not one we can afford! So, you need to find a balance. If this lad wants to come here, I say great, he's young, he has ability and it looks like we can afford him. We know we have coaches and a manager who brings out the best in players - let them work with him, let them coach him into becoming a consistent goalscorer. Trust the process. A reminder, we don't actually need a goalscorer who can bag us 30 goals this year. We need someone who can score 10-15 really important goals that get us enough points to stay up. Chris Wood scored 14 last year, I believe. That kept Forest in the league with contributions from the rest of the team. |
 | News Comment | Szmodics 'Showdown Talks' With Blackburn at 12:40:18
Blackburn have a record of this kind of behaviour. I'm not surprised he wants to hear from them exactly what's going on. I'm all for playing hardball when it comes to getting the money you think is right for players, but at this point Blackburn are just playing games. I wouldn't be surprised if Ashton walks away, which will hopefully leave things unsettled in the Blackburn ranks and come January they'll be in the relegation places, which is nothing more than they deserve. As the old saying goes, play silly games, win silly prizes. |
 | News Comment | McKenna Contract Confirmation Now Expected Wednesday at 13:00:33
Lets be real - he's a great manager. Great managers will always gain attention. We should be flattered that's the case. His agent has one job and that's to inflate his profile and his price as much as possible. Both Kieran and his agent have been doing a brilliant job and that's exactly what they get paid to do. Like it or not, this is the nature of the beast. What we should all be immensely pleased about is that Kieran has decided of his own accord to stay at Ipswich, which obviously means he's been offered a deal that he feels is fair and must be competitive with some of the biggest clubs in the country! On top of this, it speaks volumes that his contract has been matched by the commitment to the project, with facilities, a transfer war chest and a genuine intention to make a real attempt at competing next year - otherwise I think the likes of Brighton and Palace would have been much more appealing to him. Why would an manager with a rising stock struggle with a newly promoted side, when he could walk into a premier league mainstay? As Kieran has previously said himself; the project isn't finished yet! He clearly thinks there's more to be achieved here and, more to the point, he can see a genuine way of making that happen - how exciting is that!? So, let's all settle down, get back onboard the ship and go plunder these premier league waters together! There are bigger things to come! Uppa Towen! |
 | News Comment | Life's a Pitch TV - Episode Six - David Sheepshanks at 11:33:10
Great episode team! Loving the depth of discussion! I always feel torn when it comes to Sheepshanks. Undoubtedly loves this club and did a lot for us to elevate us and take us to the premier league - providing countless lifelong memories. But also undoubtedly allowed the financial situation to spiral out of control under his tenure, which resulted in a lot of local people losing their businesses, their jobs and all that entails as a result of months of unpaid bills. I suppose he's a bit of a marmite fellow! |
 | News Comment | Bart: Manner of Derby Drop Disrespectful at 16:38:55
“I think you need to respect every single person, whether it's a player, a manager or someone who is working at the training ground. You need to respect every single one." Referencing conflict with more than just the players - sounds like the entire staff! From everything we've heard since his firing Hurst and Doig sound like a nightmare. Good riddance. |
 | News Comment | IP1 Live Line-Up Revised and Prices Cut at 17:15:34
Lets be real here... the marketing for this has been awful. You Me At Six are far too big to play for a few hundred people. Their management will have reserved the right to pull out of the ‘festival' if the sales are poor and they rightly have done so. It was up to the club to market and manage the sales which they've had months to do. Unfortunately its just more evidence of the lack of knowledge and investment at Portman Road now. A real shame. |
 | News Comment | Birmingham 3-0 Town - Match Report at 17:57:39
If you weren't at the game I don't think you should be commenting. The scoreline was no reflection on today's game and the town fans outsang the home crowd throughout, which says a lot when you're 3-0 down. Fraser was brilliant today. Sometimes the ball just won't go in the net - that's football. Now to drink Birmingham dry! Up the town! |
 | News Comment | Fans Meeting Up for Birmingham Game at 10:11:29
any Londoners - The Hope Fitzrovia (round the corner from goodge street station) put the town games on for me sometimes when I'm in there after work, I'm sure if a group of Tractor Boys turned up and asked to watch the game they'd be more than happy to put it one of their big screens. It's a good watering hole! |
 | News Comment | Malarczyk Due at Town Today at 15:43:28
As above, I know the end bit is certainly pronounced Chick. So I'd guess it was Pet-er Ma-lar-chick. |
 | News Comment | BBC Radio Suffolk Agree New Commentary Deal at 20:48:24
Great news - I love the BBC Suffolk coverage. Just a shame, as others have said, that I have to pay to listen to it just because I live in London (Like I wasn't already paying enough in this ridiculous city!) |
