 | News Comment | Hutchinson Focused on Euros at 13:19:17
ArnieM, no sure if anyone has actually mentioned Downes to make a comeback. But I fully agree with you. He’s demonstrated at Southampton that he still hasn’t stopped stamping his feet if things don’t work out the way he wants them to. On top of that, in my opinion, he’s a middle of the road Championship player. He ended up being a mistake by Moyes when he was West Ham’s manager. He struggled to get a game. He never shone at Southampton either. No, we don’t want him back at Portman Road. |
 | News Comment | Hutchinson Focused on Euros at 10:41:49
There’s a turn-up for the books. I was never aware of the 35m relegation release clause for Hutchinson. Was anyone on here? Seems to be a bit of a thread running through here when it comes to negotiating contracts. Not sure if it’s within the interests of the club. In my opinion, if we lose Hutchinson, it would be a big backward step. |
 | News Comment | McKenna Some Bookies' Favourite For Brentford Job at 10:31:41
A few posters on here are under the misguided impression that they are better informed than the current management team at Brentford. They are an established Premier League club, been there a few years now, and finished 10th. I’d say, if, and I mean if, this is true, Brentford’s CEO etc, will be using their Premier League knowledge to choose their next manager. That said, if their opinion is that McKenna is their first target, then that knocks all the doubters opinions on here into touch. I think they would know better, don’t you! I personally hope McKenna stays, in my opinion, he’d be a very hard act to follow. |
 | News Comment | Brentford Linked With McKenna Move Should Frank Depart For Spurs at 15:04:40
Will Brentford be a big enough pull for McKenna, I’m not so sure. For instance, despite Spurs finishing much lower than Brentford, it hasn’t dampened Frank’s interest in moving, and he knows the internal affairs of Brentford all too well. If McKenna does go, in my opinion, he’ll be a very difficult act to replace. I sincerely hope he stays. |
 | News Comment | Wardley Wins! at 14:56:48
I wasn’t at the fight, but I’ve watched that punch several times on video. It was a great punch, you have to watch it very carefully to actually see it delivered. It was disguised to perfection, nothing lucky about that. |
 | News Comment | Former Blues Boss McCarthy Inducted into LMA Hall of Fame at 22:04:41
When Evans lost interest in the club, and failed to invest in the playing staff, McCarthy played his part by not rocking the boat, happy to just watch the club tread water. ‘Make do as mended’ became his mantra. In the end, the fans had enough of him. They voiced their anger, no occasion more poignant than the Norwich City away game. His reaction to that in front of both sets of fans was nothing short of embarrassing and totally unprofessional. The writing was on the wall, he had to go. We were heading for relegation, which eventually occurred under Lambert. The damage was already done. When it became apparent to the majority of fans just what a disaster the McCarthy and Evans partnership was, incredibly though it may seem, there were still a few short sighted credulous fools making comments attempting to defend them. Unbelievable. |
 | News Comment | Potter: I Felt Our Physicality Would Cause Ipswich Problems at 14:39:55
Portman Terrorist Bite back! You flatter yourself. That was a friendly little nudge. Well as you obviously regard yourself as someone who can tell whether a poster on here attends matches or not, just by reading their comments, I’d be very interested in plugging into your expertise and asking you the following questions - 1. how long do you think I’ve been a Town fan? 2. What connection do I have with the club? And finally, 3. (not to tax you too much so you need a little nap) when did I first purchase a season ticket? Looking forward to benefiting from your expert and esoteric knowledge, as well of course tapping into your obvious footballing insight. |
 | News Comment | Phillips: McKenna Made Me Believe in Myself Again at 22:01:57
When Phillips was fit and at his best, he was a very talented player, who showed true PL ability. I still think his best game for us was against Leicester. Before he was wrongfully sent off, he literally ran the show from midfield, they couldn’t get near him. |
 | News Comment | Chaplin: I Can't Speak Highly Enough of Mass at 13:46:11
Mass is what I would describe as the complete footballer. I’ve said before, if we had a young Massimo Luongo, we’d have one of the best midfield players in the PL. He’s been a very influential player for us, one of our best, if not the best, signing over the last 3 seasons. Whatever he does, wherever he goes, I hope he enjoys the rest of his career, he still has lots to offer, and he’s been a top, top player. |
 | News Comment | Enciso: Thanks For Supporting Me and For the Love at 11:36:54
Mariner1974. Ps, thanks for having the nous to actually answer my post and provide your opinion, unlike some posters on here who are devoid of such abilities, and have just marked my comments down. |
 | News Comment | Enciso: Thanks For Supporting Me and For the Love at 11:24:16
Mariner1974. You make some good points regarding some available players. We’ve all seen though what calibre of player it takes to survive in the PL. I for one believe, despite the fact we have some decent players, this squad needs reinforcements. You’re right, we can’t influence what happens and we’ll just have to wait and see. My main point though, was as CEO, I believe this is a good time for Ashton to quell any fears some fans may have, and answer some poignant questions. |
 | News Comment | Enciso: Thanks For Supporting Me and For the Love at 10:30:14
That sounds like a goodbye message. We’ll miss him, he’s been a superb influence on the pitch. All be it a little too impetuous. However, I’m a little concerned. Im 100 percent behind McKenna as our manager, however, I’m a little concerned with his comments, and I quote, “we just focused on the game with the boys who have been with us who are going to be with us going forward.” (Did that indicate that Cajuste could be staying? I hope so, he’s a talented player). However, I looked at the lineup, our bench, the watching players who are injured etc, and apart from a few exceptions, I felt there were too many who are decent players, but not good enough to propel us back into the PL. That’s just my opinion, some may disagree. But according to McKenna’s comments, it looks as though he thinks differently. Another thing, I’m also 100 percent behind our CEO Mark Ashton, he’s a very passionate man who has worked very hard for our club, but since our relegation was confirmed, I feel it’s been deafening by his silence. During the after match parade I thought he looked dejected and very unhappy. Yes he’s obviously very disappointed, as we all are. A question I think we all want to be answered is, will there be a decent ‘war chest’ to strengthen the squad? At the beginning of the season he was very positive, full of verve and enthusiasm for the task ahead. I just think that if he intends to deliver a similar speech for the next task ahead, I feel, considering McKenna’s above mentioned comments, now would be a good time to do it. |
 | News Comment | Potter: I Felt Our Physicality Would Cause Ipswich Problems at 08:12:59
“Our physicality”? Not sure how physicality could influence 3 gifted goals. Morsy made a terrible blunder with their first, he then failed to close down their player on the edge of our box for the second. Walton should have saved Bowen’s shot, it was at a perfect hight to be pushed around the post, a bread and butter save for a professional goalkeeper. Our goal was the best of the 4. Broadhead finished superbly. Then there was the unlucky Hutchinson, who on another day would have had a brace. So take your ‘I’m a good tactician’ glasses off Potter, and show some accuracy in your summing up. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: I'm Confident We Can Challenge Next Season at 14:58:27
The fact that McKenna has taken us non stop from division one to the PL must not be forgotten. That is a wonderful achievement. In my opinion, success came too quickly for us to be properly prepared to compete in the PL. That does not diminish McKenna’s record in his first managerial job. He’s done a remarkably well. Like everyone connected with the club, he’s learnt a great deal about survival at the very top. He’s an intelligent individual, who recognises his mistakes. By the way, there isn’t one single manager in the PL who hasn’t made mistakes. I’m confident he’ll build on his natural talents, and also what he’s learnt. By the time we get towards the end of next season, we’ll be witnessing just how lucky we are to have him. |
 | News Comment | Morsy: My Favourite Midfielder I've Played With at 08:51:48
Sam Morsy has been a stalwart for us over the last 3 seasons. When others begin to wilt under pressure, Morsy digs-in and stands his ground. He rightly praises Mass, but you could say the same things about Morsy. It’s not just his playing ability that’s helped us get to the PL, it’s also his captaincy, he’s a very good leader. He’s now 33, he may have lost a bit of pace for PL football, but he’s got a lot to offer us in the Championship, not just on the pitch, but off it as well. Personally, I’m very pleased he looks like staying. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: Luongo Will Be Moving On Having Been an Incredible Player For the Club at 21:40:56
If we had a young Massimo Luongo in our squad, we’d have one of the best Premier League midfielders in the game. What a player. Age catches up with all of us, but he’s still got more than many young player will ever be able to reach. Whatever he does, wherever he goes, good luck Mass, you’ve been outstanding. |
