 | News Comment | McKenna: Credit to Maidstone, a Horrible Game to Lose at 16:54:13
This is football and that is why we love it. We dominated the game, and 9 times out of 10 if we played in a similar vein , it would have been a victory. The weaker team can always win if fortune favours them. They had 2 shots to our 38. Clearly the better team lost. But in football the worse team always have a chance. This day we were very unfortunate to lose. Particularly as VAR would have spotted the foul for their second. To be honest the match should have been about 4-1 to us on balance of play and chances. If we had scored early as we deserved, they couldn’t just sit and park the bus. McKenna is a very intelligent man. His reaction was spot on. Not getting cross shows poise and thoughtfulness and acceptance of probabilities going against you on occasions. |

Works for me. As I live in Shropshire now. Gives me a much better chance of going to away matches within 2 and a half hours. Hope they work out you can sit with family members easily. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: It Was the Day We Wanted to Give Supporters at 16:58:35
Sound words. I think we have a clever astute talented manager. We are in a-good place for giving it a real go for promotion. Exciting times ahead. Just hope for a cracking start. Or at least a solid start…….. |
 | News Comment | Ipswich Town 4-0 Charlton Athletic - Match Report at 15:41:35
I have really enjoyed this season. Some cracking matches with Cook in charge. Some surprisingly and frustratingly poor games too, I grant you. The Wycombe wanderers away game was just brilliant entertainment, with some wonderful attacking football, a fantastic night out. Since McKenna has taken over, the football played has been high class, and entertaining. It is just the finishing thrust that hasn't always clicked. Today it all clicked, and we purred with confidence. It might be a dead rubber, but it shows our solid potential. McKenna is a sharp cookie, bright, and learning about division One all the time. He will be thinking through his footballing approach, with its clear strengths and its current limitations. We are very fortunate to have McKenna. I think he is a top coach. He will do his very best with the resources he is granted. I am really looking forward to our bid for promotion next year, and we need to be right behind the club next year, which judging by the great support this year could get even stronger with a good start. You never know we might even score from a corner next season…. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: Set Plays Need to Improve at 19:06:03
I think we have actually scored one from a set play, or anyway a quickly taken free quick on the right by Morsy, I think sending Donacian away to pick out someone in the box. I think I'm right. Can't remember the game. |
 | News Comment | Bolton Wanderers 2-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 21:42:56
I thought there was some positives. We dominated the last 15 minutes and produced several half chances. Substitutes Kane and Celina looked sharp. We had 14 shots to their 8. Bolton produced very little in the second half, except their incisive goal. I'm not gloomy, I was entertained, as most of the action in the second half was at our supporters end, and they worked their socks off even though they were two down.think on balance we deserved at least a draw. I think Norwood is a bit out of his depth . I am actually encouraged by our performance particularly when we were 2-0. down. We gave the players and manager a good reception at the end. Positives to build on. |

Looking at all available candidates currently out of work, Paul Cook looks the best bet. |

Did Ashton dislike Cook, And was looking for an excuse to convince the American owners? The players clearly liked cook as a leader. Did Aston really think things through. Clearly Ashton gave him no warning, judging by the interview after the Barrow game. Disappointed. |
 | News Comment | Charlton Athletic 2-0 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 22:06:34
This whole episode leaves a horrible feel to the club. Cook got his players. They obviously had potential. I have really enjoyed performances by the team this season, particularly Doncaster, Plymouth and Wycombe. Yes they were erratic, but there was nearly always excitement. The players who liked and expected to play for Cook, are dispirited. In this key part of the season it was rash to sack him, when there was still promise. Poor decision. No one in the pipeline. The most enjoyable season for years, very likely now to end in mediocrity. |
 | News Comment | Cook: From a Winning Position We Found a Way to Give It Up at 18:42:47
To be honest, I thought we were a bit unlucky second half. We were playing pretty well, and didn't take our chances when we got to the by line. Corners always have an element of random element, and it is the second time we have been caught at the end.. We might not be firing on all cylinders, but we show of streaks of great play. We might well be the best team in the division, we just need a little fortune going our way. We will have our measure on Tuesday and see...I am confident.... The games generally have been hugely entertaining, and though I am sick every time we let another lead slip, it has been absorbing. Yes - and this season - I am really looking forward to the next game, when I think we could stuff anybody...... I would like to see Edwards start again, he is so talented and great to watch. Assume Paul Cook has his reasons. |
 | News Comment | Cook: An Absolutely Shocking Performance at 22:44:39
After three hours travel my son and I were milling outside the away end, in the drizzling gloom, sadly reflecting that me, the Dad had forgotten the tickets. I checked all my pockets for the last time. As I looked up, there was the face of Paul Cook…I did a double take, iIt was only 30 minutes to kick off. He looked in a hurry. “Who needs a couple of tickets?”. Yes, I said. They were in my hands that second- and then he was gone. He didn't want them to go to waste. Thank you. He is a good man. |

Fascinating. In defence of McCarthy I think felt he had to play more negative football considering his resources. At Wolves, I believe the year he took them up, they were prolific goal scorers, because they could afford the more able players, and he thought he could afford to play more expansively. Paul Cook stats are very encouraging. He needs to be given time, which I hope he will be given. |
 | News Comment | Lambert: Full-Back Decisions Not Tricky at 11:05:40
Its not rocket science that when you play 4-1-2-1-2 narrow against a back 5 team with no wingers to press full backs there is a huge opportunity and necessity for the full backs to join the attack and get up and down the touchline all match long as our formation lacks width! So two out of form 35 year olds should do! |
