 | News Comment | McKenna: Muric Close to Return, Slicker Set For Loan at 22:11:35
We will never know obviously, but I do wonder if we coukd have stayed up had we signed Palmer instead of Muric in the summer. The points dropped due to his mistakes, the confidence that was lost in the defence and throughout the team, the potential run of wins we missed out on. I just watched the win at Spurs, where most people think he played well, but if you look just before the second goal, he made a howler, gifting the ball to them and we were very lucky not to concede and go up the other end to double the lead. The previous time we were relegated back in 2002, we didn’t have a first choice goalkeeper either. It really is the most important position in the team. |

I have some sympathy for Walton He played fantastically well in the 2-0 win over Chelsea Then in the next game was let down by teammates at Fulham with the two penalties Then at home to Brighton he possibly suffered a concussion from Joao Pedro (should have been a red card). He looked dazed anyway. Then came the two games vs MC and Liverpool where he let in some soft goals. We would have lost anyway. Having played in the opener vs Liverpool,12 of the 16 goals came against MC and Liverpool + 2 penalties at Fulham. |

The Southampton game was a fantastic opportunity for Muric to redeem himself. Unfortunately he failed miserably, letting in two easy goals, for someone supposedly great at shot stopping. I didn’t watch him at Burnley, but they say it was the same there. Enough is enough, and Kieran has finally realized it, though it maybe too late to avoid relegation. |

Great news on a Monday. The goalkeeper is the most important player in the team. It is arguably why we were relegated last time and has cost us many points this season with Muric. |

McKenna bought the wrong goalkeeper in the summer unfortunately. A solid goalkeeper breeds confidence throughout the team. This was a must win, and he has cost us points again |

He’s on as a substitute at 3-0. I like what I see. He’such a dominant figure out there with pace when needed. |
