Mr Ashton. Take a bow son! I thought the incoming signings wee great, then we go up a gear with what we are signing! And get good money for want away players who are training with under 23s, other clubs know we want rid but we held out till the death for the max price. God we have needed this! |
 | News Comment | Lambert: A Win's a Win But it Won't Change the Negativity at 06:48:08
A win is a win....but. Why do we continue to take all the pace out of the game? We upped the tempo and played positively for a total of 4 minutes in that game, we scored twice in those 4 minutes! And it had very little to do with their 10 men, it was down to us pushing them back, going forward before they had time to get behind the ball and organise. I've watched this club for 45 years, seen some great teams, some good teams, some not so good teams and some pretty awful teams, but none of them were as characterless as this one. The players look scared to take a risk, afraid to make a mistake , even when we cross a ball it is so deliberate instead of just putting it into an area where defenders have a problem, excepted fir when ward did twice yesterday...and look what happened then. We have the players, just let them play . |
 | News Comment | Evans: We Need to Be a Footballing Team at 09:59:07
Quotes from the last couple of seasons ....... "Sometimes you have to go down to go up" "We would be better of in league one so that we can rebuild" "I would rather see us play football the Ipswich way rather than boring 1-0 and 0-0''s" We did not get to that state overnight..... it took 18 seasons. If anybody though 18 seasons of deterioration was going to be overturned from may to August then they are deluded. If anyone thought we would immediately turn this club around just because we were in a lower division and fly back up the leagues for a double promotion in the style of Southampton or the scum, then you are completely deluded. Our model for a return was alway going to be closer to the Sheffield United model. A total rebuild, from the foundations upwards. Not just a cover up with a lick of paint. Yes, the scum and Southampton did bounce back quickly and remain there. Up they were never in the bad way we were when we came down, the foundations were already there, they were only relegated through poor team management after one bad season. Neither of them had languished in obscurity like we have. Stability, is our best defence now, give a manager time, give a coaching team time, dare I say it..... give an owner time. Like so many, I am sick of waiting, it feels like this club has been 'stabilising ' forever.... my boys have never seen top flight football at Portman road, the great nights under the lights they have seen are almost non existent. It is time to change it all now, but unfortunately it may well take this club and this manager much of the five years to catch up with the other clubs those 18 years ahead of us...... Let's get behind the team, you never know. The fan said might just be able to accelerate the recovery! |
 | News Comment | Lambert on Referee: That Wasn't Acceptable, That Was Incredible at 08:51:25
Referees this season have been poor at best, a couple of decent ones but generally poor. These are people that are used to officiating in front of 7 or 8,000 people. A few of these guys are simply out of their depth in front of 20,000. Experienced league 1 players and managers know this and use it. We have to learn, our players are going to have to not get involved and as a crowd we need to start making the place a cauldron before the other team beat us to it and then we are only reacting to what has already happened. OR...... the EFL could wake up and just for once do the sensible thing and save the better refs for the bigger games..... a top of league one game may need a higher ref than a mid table championship game for example. |
 | News Comment | Wycombe Postponement Confirmed at 08:43:16
Difficult to criticise any decisions the club management are making at the moment, already missed one international weekend, still top of the league. And when we achieve that double promotion and are in the Premier League in two years time, how many 3pm Saturday games will we have all season then? |
 | News Comment | Lambert: I Don't See the Point of the Tournament at 09:58:35
I get the frustration of too many games. But you do have to use these to our advantage. We do have many players returning from injury over at the moment and will have more over the next few months. What would we usually do to test these players full fitness? Probably arrange a friendly with either a high level teams under 21's or a behind closed doors friendly with another team. Why not do it in a competitive game instead? |
 | News Comment | Lambert: Evans Should Tell the Fans What’s Going On at 09:33:02
Is this a management master stroke by Paul Lambert? Takes all the attention away from his young squad on the eve of the season, and continues to take all the pressure of them as we go on. Whilst continuing to build a stronger relationship between the fans and the team. Genius, the best thing to happen to our club for years. |
 | News Comment | Elliott Loan Move on Hold at 17:15:29
Not sure he is good enough to risk taking with an injury. If you want a striker with a hamstring injury you may as well get Will Keane back. |
 | News Comment | Lambert: We'll Know More About Keane's Injury Before Weekend at 12:55:28
OK...We have been utter garbage at times this season, Hurst was a disaster, Evans made a huge mistake. But....... ÂŁ@?k me!!! I have never known a club to suffer such bad luck for an entire season......injuries, refs decisions, it has been unbelievable. Heard a good call from another town fan walking back to the car park on Saturday, if that Wigan team won league one last year, we will be more than ok next year..... let's hope the bad luck stay away too. |
 | News Comment | Hurst: You Can’t Give Goals Away Against a Side Like Boro at 09:52:07
You see Mr Hurst, that's the difference when you go up the levels. Teams and players become more ruthless and the finishing becomes more clinical. You get punished for your mistakes quicker and more frequently. Therefore, if you are not up to the standard, you get punished and found out very quickly. That's players and Managers. |
 | News Comment | Ipswich Town 0-2 Middlesbrough - Match Report at 09:44:32
Only one viable option if he goes, no funds for a new manager so have to appoint from within. The lads running the under 23's? Next question is what can they do with all these third rate players? Perhaps they could utilise some championship youngsters, Dozzell, Downes, Kenlock, Lankester, (not sure if call backs are available for Nydam, Wolfenden, Emanuel and Morris). Then a little bit of under used experience around the club like Freddy. Sure the lads wouldn't mind helping out. |

 | News Comment | Town Meet Shrews' Valuation for Nsiala and Nolan as Signings Get Closer at 09:40:35
The problem Paul Hurst has is not a lack of players with championship experience. It is a lack of players with the experience of playing the system he uses. We WILL play 4-2-3-1, it is the modern way of playing football. In fact, we have a steel on many clubs, we are leading the way at club level. However, the old school players do not have the knowledge of this type of system and what is required. Interesting Paul Hurst put young Morris ahead in the queue of "more experienced ' players yesterday, but then he has spent much time away with various England teams in the last couple of seasons playing these type of systems, and looked in his comfort zone when he came on. Also, if we sign the two Shrewsbury lads and Tilt, Paul Hurst strikes me as the sort of man who will play his own players, and there are two centre backs there. New skipper required I'm thinking. |
