Keane Looking to Add Strikers to Squad
at 19:53:24

Runaround, couldnt agree more. Whilst we persist with such negative tactics & playing with so few offensive options, any poor sod that we got in upfront would struggle. Had same problem last season, & now we have a whole raft of new striking options, the net result is the same. Surely not a coincidence? Why not try the novel idea of playing Scotland in his rightful position, that would help his game surely? He is certainly not a link man, a number ten if u will. We also need to deploy more attacking full backs & midfielders willing (or allowed) to break forward & support. We are far too easy to defend against. We can throw more strikers at it, keane's default solution is to keep changing personnel. Surely Evans & clegg must begin to wonder what sort of a manager/coach they have who does neither?

Keane Targeting Fifth Loanee
at 21:19:24

Yep, that's what we need, more players that aren't our assets, whilst our biggest asset sits on his backside every week! What we don't need is to keep throwing new players at things, last season it was through a weight of money, this season through the loan market. What about actually working with what we have & doing the little thing that is after your name Keane, MANAGE!

We are far too negative, isolating poor Scotland far too much, and whilst he was a lone frontman at Swansea, they actually had width and kept the ball on the floor, which is what we simply don't do enough of.

I don't expect to win every game, I don't necessarily expect us to get promotion, but some entertainment along the way is surely not too much to expect is it?

Town Up Chopra Offer
at 09:30:53

Good move, and on a player that is proven at this level. My only concern is will he get enough quality supply, we would surely have to get more creativity into that midfield of ours and play with a lot more width to give our strikers some kind of quality of service on which to thrive. A Wickham/Chopra partnership would give us far more of a genuine threat than any other we could muster last season, and indeed in the last two or three seasons.

This, whilst expensive, would represent much better value for money than Priskin, Martin etc who have nothing like the track record that Chopra has, and rather unsurprisingly have been disappointing signings at best.

Celtic Targeting Murphy
at 19:51:31

Well, I hope that is the end of it, of Murphy coming to us. He had a good start, but faded, and £1m for a player so obviously one footed, it does not represent value. Really got to ask if he really is any better than what we already have. On balance, no.

I have been critical of Keane's tranfer policy generally, but at least we have tried before we potentially bought on this occasion. If only we'd done the same with the likes of Martin, Edwards & Priskin!

Welcome the links with Hooper, someone who has scored goals at this level and plenty of years ahead of him!

Keane: We Need to Be More Streetwise
at 19:12:09

I wish there was less talk about characters and more about some actual qualities that would win us some games, i.e quality, creativity, width to name but three. Actually, add to that a style of play as quite frankly for large periods we didn't have one. Yes you undoubtedly need characters, but a team needs a balance of qualities, so often last season the balance was not right, and we simply had not got the style of play or sufficient quality to turn draws into wins.

But why would Evans necesarily dip his hand into his pockets so readily again after money was so badly squandered last season? When looking at return on investment he must look at the spend, look at where we finished last season in comparsion to previous seasons and the points tally we accumlated and then must be hesistant about throwing good money after bad. Surely a management team should be working hard on moulding a cohesive team, not just throwing the dice and signing player after player in the hope it eventually works?

Too much churn of players will not help build a successful team. I would look to shift some players on before bringing anymore in, but when we are to sign players during the summer, I hope the homework isn't as shoddy as last year.
