 | News Comment | Downes Set for Luton Loan at 13:38:07
I think this is a great move all round. Good seeing our better academy players going out and playing at a decent standard. As a club we have benefitted from having and improved players coming in on loan, hopefully the same will happen for our youngsters. |
 | News Comment | Ipswich Town 0-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers - Match Report at 17:29:14
Played better football today then I've seen them play in a while. Sadly the gulf in quality showed especially in the final third. Mick far too slow with the subs! Our movement from 60mins was shocking. Needed fresh legs for 30mins not 10! BART was different class. |
 | News Comment | Iorfa Fine But Smith and Adeyemi Remain Sidelined at 16:12:33
Completely agree with cat. Chambers in possession has always been a problem but notably this year I think he's basic defending has been poor. He's completely lost the ability to deal with a long ball, Daryl Murphy is going have a field day with him on Saturday! |
 | News Comment | McCarthy: Sorry for Swearing But Otherwise No Regrets Regarding Post-Burton Comments at 17:22:43
He has to be admired for the squad he has put put together on the budget he has had. The club is definitely in a better place for him being here. However his constant contempt for the fans has gone beyond a joke and the tactical negativity and mistakes he repeatedly makes is unbearable. I think we actually have a decent squad this year and I think he is not letting it perform to its potential with a lack of clear team style and philosophy. A constant desire to throw 4 strikers on while we have players like Celina and Ward on the bench is embarrassing. There has also got to be serious questions as to why we don't turn up on the televised matches (including the derby games). Thanks for what you have done Mick, but it's time to go before Portman Road is completely empty regardless of the results and form of the team - a very odd statement to make. |
 | News Comment | McCarthy Quietly Hopeful on Garner, Adeyemi Expected to Return at 16:42:38
Totally agree. I think Adeyemi is a massive boost for us, he is a physical presence and not afraid of making forward runs. Lets pray that for once we start well Sunday and give them a really good game! News that Bishop and Huws may return soon has got me a bit more optimistic about the season again. COYB! |
 | News Comment | Chambers: Winning Games is the Most Important Thing at 17:33:10
In my opinion it is horses for courses. Sure we would all love to play every team in the league off the park but that just is not going to happen this season. However against Bolton (and other lesser teams) who can only dream of having players of McGoldrick and Celina ability we need to be more positive (from the off!). Thats where I think MM could and should improve. Town are too often sent out looking nervy in the first half with don't give them anything early on ringing in their ears. |
 | News Comment | Town Drop to Seventh at 17:18:06
Looking forward to the game Saturday. Bolton with their financial troubles are one of the worst teams in the Championship for many years. Hopefully there will be a change from the 4-4-2, which has not worked the last two games. I would prefer 3-5-2 with Knudsen one of the centre backs and Celina just behind the striker/strikers. A win will make it a great start to the season all things considered, still lots of players to return from injury. COYB! |
 | News Comment | Millwall 3-4 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 09:46:21
Must now strengthen at the back. Although Spence scored the winning goal he's not good enough to play CB in a back 4 and Chambers still gets bullied by bigger opposition forwards. All the goals we conceded were poor and easily avoidable (how did he manage to slice that one into his own net?). Bring in a quality CB and then we will have Chambers, Smith, Webster, + 1. Spence can then play RB or CB when we play 5 at the back. Then we will have a right squad!!! COYB!!! |
 | News Comment | Knudsen Fit as McCarthy Hints at Changes at Wigan at 10:57:33
Need to try something different. Would love him try 3-5-2 (flavour of the month i know) but with Webster's ability to step forward with the ball and means we can still incorperate the undroppable Chambers without him giving the ball away so much at RB. Could be played with 2 up top or two attacking midfielders (lawrence/williams) behind a centre forward. Without Murph i dont feel the need for out and out wide men. |
 | News Comment | McCarthy Delighted to Add Attacking Quality at 16:41:47
Leon Best scored 4 in 16 for Rotheram (including 1 against us). I don't really understand the hostility. Grant Ward was in that team as well who was well recieved there and done well for us, no reason Best cannot either. Plus he has come in on a short term deal to possibly be the 4th choice striker in a team playing 4-3-3. That why I'm not too worried we have not paid over the odds for a striker this window as I believe Pitman/Sears/Didz/Best deserve a shot at replacing Murph. No recent calls for a new RB which I feel is more of a priority. |
 | News Comment | McCarthy: Blackburn Better Than Their League Position at 10:40:59
Have to mix things up at the back. Parr has to be brought in at right back and I think Berra has been dissapointing this season so far. Need more clean sheets if we are going to achieve anything this year. If we do start defending better we finally have the attacking players to get the goals. COYB! |
 | News Comment | Town 1-1 Birmingham - Match Report at 11:33:15
If a player gets a cross or shot off in the box it does not give the opposition have a free pass to for a late challenge or to clatter into you. Keepers get away with it all the time (I personally believe Brad Guzan should have been dismissed for his challenge on Nathan Dyer last weekend in the Leicester vs. Villa game although Dyer scored after the collision). Penalty. Dissapoined with a draw, which is probably a positive reflection on ITFC being the better team. Roll on United at Old Trafford! |
