Simpson Signs First Pro Deal
Nice to read something positive about the future, hopefully more youngsters being given longer contracts to come. Can't keep getting mugged off by the big boys for compensation that never comes!
Town Down to Ninth
Can't say I see us finishing much higher than that.
The worst squad we've had in years, an owner that didn't strengthen when we were in a position of authority, a manager that seems to be losing the plot more as each game passes, countless injuries, suspension of our only firing Striker, and a dreadful home record with plenty of home games still to be played!
Get used to League One everyone, this will be the high water mark for quite some time.
Ipswich Town 4-1 Burton Albion - Match Report
Really strange game but I definitely won't complain! Think we came up against a poor Burton side today in all honesty but great character to get back in the game and win comfortably in the end. Hopefully they can keep this up and we can finish the season as we started it! COYB
Lambert: We Should Have Been a Couple Up After Excellent First Half
Outplayed by a better team - said it before and will say it again, we're a top 8 side with the players we have. Anything we achieve beyond that will be a mircale. We were a shambles last year, its insanity to think we'd dominate this season with the lack of investment/proven players.
Blues Linked With Scunthorpe Striker
Also Blackpool look to be announcing 3 signings today so would say it's more likely he's going there than us. Don't know anything about him but that is the status we operate at now
Lambert: Deals for Proven Loan Targets Too Rich For Us
I'm a realist, I don't expect or want us to splash the cash willy nilly but I think most of us would agree this squad could be improved with a couple of loans. Really hard to believe that everyone Lambo wanted was 'too rich'. I hope I'm proven wrong and we fly through the rest of the season, but make no mistake, it will be Evan's fault if we are still playing League 1 football next season and if we are, just know it will be considerably harder to get promoted from there on out. Personally think this window has been wasted, even though keeping Wolfy and Downes has been a bonus.
Ex-Blues Boss Hurst Sacked By Scunthorpe
Not normally one to laugh at the misfortune of others, but couldn't have happened to a nicer couple of blokes. I suspect that's the last we see of either of them in a professional dugout.
Blackpool Linked With Nolan Move
Heathen, I think you are right that there's a bias against the Hurst signings, some of those players have come on really well having dropped down a level and if we are to go back up we will stand a much better chance of survival next season thanks to them being embedded in the team now. However some of them including Nolan do deserve the scrutiny they get. I'd like to see him do well for us but he just hasn't delivered consistently and the last couple of games he played for us I felt he showed a real lack of effort. On Judge, he has received more than his fair share of criticism over performance as well as the transfer saga. I personally think Judge has very slowly but steadily picked up throughout the season, this formation suits him and he's a seasoned pro. Certainly not been everything we wanted but I believe he'll be crucial to any promotion plans we have. Onwards and upwards, COYB
Lambert: One of the Top Three Performances This Season
I was there and agree - thought we looked really eager to play nicely through them and stretch them at all opportunities, but more than that looked relentless without the ball, proper hunger from everyone today. There are still times where we spend too long trying to put the perfect ball in rather than hit them fast on the break, and we do look shaky when being countered but massively improved since the start of the season. Maybe a couple of last minute signings to add some further support for the final run and we'll be good value for promotion. Onwards and upwards, COYB.
O'Neill Not Expecting Busy Transfer Window
All season I have read nonsense from people on here and on social media saying that 'on paper our squad is more than capable of winning the league'. Wake up.
We were relegated resoundingly, we do not have a divine right to dominate this league.
Look at the players. Nsiala, Kenlock, Donancien, Dozzell, Nolan, and Edwards are all genuinely poor. Skuse and Chambers are getting too old and have not been their best. Multiple injuries, ALL the time. This team is a top 8 team. Nothing more than that and anything that we do deliver above that will be a massive achievement in the face of little investment. There is still an awful lot of dead wood in this side and I will be amazed if we make the play offs by the end of the season.
Lambert on Referee: That Wasn't Acceptable, That Was Incredible
Officiating was scandalously bad tonight. Sometimes refs get it wrong and linos don't see it but tonight was a shambles - the young lino must have seen at least one clear handball of the two in the first half and there is no way he didn't see that it was a goal. Ref let Akinfenwa and others get away with so much pushing, elbowing and pulling and the foul for the penalty was outside the box.
What a save by the way!
Unfortunate that we didn't register a shot on target because we were better than that tonight and had we got one I feel confident we would have got 2 or 3 but there we are.
The Town go marching on.
Ipswich Town 0-0 Wycombe Wanderers - Match Report
You're all digging Chambers out but the foul happened outside the box - yes I'd rather he didn't make any foul at all but it was not a penalty. Hard to feel anything but rage about the standard of officiating tonight.
We did not take enough shots clearly, but at the same time it's a miracle that some of the play was as fluid as it was when they had the ref and the young lino in their back pocket all night.
Big up the Big man between the sticks for preventing a total robbery.
Ipswich Town 0-2 Rotherham United - Match Report
I'm absolutely gutted today because losing 2 on the bounce just brings back the feeling of last year, but ultimately I think it was just a blip. We have to have one at some point of the season, I think we are a good side but maybe the unbeaten run allowed us to think we were better than we are.
If we can keep pace and win the game in hand then we're back on top and we can start to build another run from there.
Lots of negatives from the last 2 games, but providing we don't get too much bad luck with injuries I think the positives from the rest of the season so far will help us to get back to winning ways.
Lambert isn't stupid, he will understand what's gone wrong, but he is right to tinker with things from time to time. COYB
Lambert: I Don't See the Point of the Tournament
No judgement being made here, but to those above who have said they won't go tonight or indeed to any of the matches - would you go if we made it to Wembley?
Purely hypothetical as it looks unlikely from the attitude Lambo has to it, but possible nonetheless.
For my money, the format is the biggest issue with it, a group stage is completely unnecessary when it could have been standard knockout rounds. But I do think winning games is a good habit to be in so would hope we go out there to try to win, regardless of the squad we send out.
Ipswich Town 3-0 Shrewsbury Town - Match Report
I'm not gonna complain about a ref giving us decisions, we've had our fair share of ref-related robberies and the standard in general is shocking - make hay while the sun shines. Top of the league, only 25 places below Nodge, happy days all things considered COYB
