 | News Comment | McKenna: I Can See the Thinking Behind Play-Off Expansion Proposal at 19:21:53
Just wondering……. Because the play-offs were in place, we didn’t get promoted from the championship until the last day, beating Huddersfield. If it was still the old system of top three up, we’d have been promoted earlier. On the off chance does anyone know which match would have seen us clinch promotion? Hull away maybe? |

Playoffs or no playoffs? Well it does come across as unfair sometimes but it certainly provides extra excitement for the teams in the middle of the league, who without it would have nothing to play for from March onwards, cutting out numerous dead rubbers. On the other hand the national league currently has a system where you can potentially have 1st and 7th promoted and todays proposal for the EFL is similar - you could have 1st, 2nd and 8th go up. Not for me thanks. I know not everyone is a fan but leave it as it is, just have 3rd-6th battle it out. Meanwhile the suggestion that “It is just a money getting game for the Wembley coffers” is not correct when you consider that when play-offs were introduced for 1986/87, the first three seasons had the finals two legged home and away, same as the semis. |

Lowestoft are no longer an isthmian club. They are Southern Premier Central, not Isthmian Central (just saying) |

Another point to make. Once the Cobbold gets demolished, everyone in that stand will obviously have to move temporarily, including away fans. The whole project surely won’t be started and completed within the summer months. There will be a time where PR will have a reduced capacity. Away fans during that period will be placed in the Sir Alf on police advice (railway station proximity etc). Once the project is completed, whether they get moved back into the corner of the new Cobbold or remain in Sir Alf, who knows? We shall find out when it happens. |

Blues1 - get what you’re saying regarding making sense to just extend current area. But your suggestion about home and away fans entering and leaving from same exits isn’t correct. separate entrances and exit areas can easily be implemented. |

They should put away fans in the left corner of the Sir Alf - upper and maybe also lower. Thats what’ll happen eventually when the Cobbold is demolished. Besides, Ashton doesn’t like having the away section where it is anyway due to premium seating being used for segregation. Or are his hands tied on this one? |

Hope not. But I’ve got a feeling this could be a Monday night on ITV4. As a regular watcher of non league football too, I’ve seen Maidstone a number of times and they’ve always been a good bunch. |

Oh well, fingers crossed that Walton recovers swiftly. Good luck to Vaz. Who knows… maybe we’ll end up with a Clive Baker/Craig Forrest 1992/93 scenario. |
 | News Comment | Burns: Bale's the Greatest British Player of All Time at 12:13:08
ACJ….. there is no island of Great Britain 😂 Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom. The nationality of someone from the United Kingdom is British, which includes English, Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish. So the suggestion that George Best wasn't British is incorrect. I too agree with the earlier post that it is probably unfair to compare players from different eras. It is also incorrect to base arguments on amount of trophies won. These are won by teams rather than individuals. |
