 | News Comment | Ipswich Town 0-0 Brighton and Hove Albion - Match Report at 22:37:05
So negative to keep Douglas on alongside Skuse. We had a man advantage in midfield and Mick should have put another more creative midfielder on. It was also surprising we didn't change tactics when Sears was brought on for Best up front, we looked absolutely toothless. I don't think we won a single header and we failed to put any real pressure on a team down to 10 men. It's depressing to watch at the moment. |
 | News Comment | Yorwerth's Contract Terminated at 23:37:10
Do we know if mutual consent means that the club have paid Yorwerth off or he's just released on a free? I understand taking a chance on players if there's little financial risk but this seems a bit counterproductive if you end up paying off the remainder of their contract once you decide they're not good enough. Thought Yorwerth might have been kept as a back up due to us signing Webster with Berra being made available for transfer. Will be interesting to see what MM has planned in terms of the starting CB partnership. |
 | News Comment | Bristol City 2-1 Town - Match Report at 17:23:44
Poor performance, spent the whole game pumping aimless balls forward with Murphy failing to win most. Couldn't really see what we were trying to achieve. All MM did was his customary tactic when losing of putting as many strikers on the pitch as he can. Not sure where we're going with it at the moment |
 | News Comment | Town 0-1 Derby County - Match Report at 17:37:28
If we want to beat the top teams we need to try and control possession and attack from different angles. No point in doing the same long ball tactics over and over again. Shackle had field day. As soon as we go behind the other team can just sit back and keep the ball making us look toothless. Very frustrating. |
 | News Comment | McCarthy Delighted With Tough, Resolute, Well-Organised Display at 16:56:23
I hate how Mick seems to think that he's being adventurous simply by having a load of strikers/wingers on the pitch. It doesn't matter who's in the team, if your only tactic is to kick the ball up the pitch and hope a tall guy wins a header then you're going to spend a lot of time losing the ball and having to defend. We're hopeless at retaining possession and that will always prevent us from being as effective an attacking threat as we could be. |
 | News Comment | MK Dons 0-1 Town - Match Report at 14:53:43
At the end of the day we got the win which was the most important outcome. Wish we'd look to control the ball/midfield more particularly against lower class opposition. Thought MK Dons, for all their possession and passing, were there for the taking. Our inability to kill the game off let them back into it and on another day we'd be complaining about a draw. |
 | News Comment | Town 0-2 Middlesbrough - Match Report at 22:03:20
Really good first half and clearly the match wasn't all doom and gloom. However, I don't understand why MM insists on going 3 up front when we go behind. (I know he brought on Coke for AMN but this moved Sears up top). All this achieved was us ceding possession in midfield and failing to establish a foothold in the game. It played into Boro's hands, they could keep hold of the ball and keep us at arm's length. Would have been nice if Mick had changed things once it was clear it wasn't working as we looked bereft of ideas. Two other points: 1. Coke isn't good enough, 2. What's the point of bring DMG on for 5 minutes when 2-0 down? Have to give him longer so he can change/impact the game. |
 | News Comment | Skuse Signs New Deal at 19:37:15
Does so much unseen work. This was particularly true last season when he filled in whenever a team mate was caught out of position and this gave Mings more of a licence to get forward. Stopped many a dangerous counteract by seeing the danger and snuffing it out. Think the issue this season is who he's partnered with, would be far more compatible with Bru/Bishop. Also, having seen him in his Bristol City days he's actually a much more technical player than he's given credit for (shows he's willing to adapt his game for the team). Glad he's signed a new deal. |
 | News Comment | Town 2-3 Brighton - Match Report at 17:30:14
An uncharacteristically poor performance today. Think we need to just hope it's a one off and move on. Felt sorry for Emmanuel playing in such an exposed defence. Also sorry, but does anyone still think Gerken's on a par with Bart? He seriously lacks command of his area which does help his defenders. |
 | News Comment | Town 2-0 Burnley - Match Report at 22:42:33
Great team performance; solid at the back and clinical in front of goal. Can't praise AMN enough, for a 17 year old he shows such composure on the ball and provides a great outlet. Just hope Fraser's injury isn't too bad as those two have really given us a cutting edge and could give us that step up from last season. |
 | News Comment | Premier League Trio Linked With Murphy at 11:07:07
Think there's the potential for a lot of mutual gain here. If Murphy decides he wants one last go at the PL (who could blame him?) and the pay rise that goes with it, we can sell a 32-year old, who's only scored over 15 goals in a season once in his career for a significant fee (£5m+). The amount of interest should drive up the price. Plus, the signing of Sears shows that good players can be found for a reasonable price. But if at the end of the day Murphy stays no one will be complaining. A win-win situation really. |
 | News Comment | Blues Rebuff Boro Bid for Murphy Claim at 10:45:51
Think any bid of £4m+ has to be considered due to his age - provided a replacement is already lined up. Don't want to leave ourselves short up front, particularly as Murph's aerial power is vital for our style of football. |
 | News Comment | Fulham Winning Race for Pringle at 18:42:03
Think he would have been a good addition for us but certainly not good enough to break the bank. As a club we need to be realistic about how much players are worth and let others such as Fulham overvalue players. In some cases it'll be cost effective to spend a fee on a player who's on lower wages. So no need to be too worried when we miss out on free transfers who are in demand and therefore commanding large wages and sign-on fees! |
 | News Comment | Blues Targeting Former Millwall Skipper at 09:48:25
Would prefer us to be targeting a better quality, more long-term solution to play right back. Wouldn't be against him joining as a useful back-up player though. |
 | News Comment | Blues Amongst Clubs Linked With Pringle at 16:28:46
Would definitely provide better quality from the left-side of midfield than Tabb. As is often noted, one area our midfield needs to improve upon is goals/assists. |
