Despite Andy Warren's cringe worthy eulogising about Chambers last night all his recent deteriation was on show. Several times he lunged and missed first balls both in the air and on the deck. Over committing because hes terrified of the chase behind. Whoever plays with him will have a big job. Obviously a brilliant captain and his voice may warrant a starting place but he will lose us points this season.
Presumably a CF is also required. A taller, target man type would be helpful. Doubt we'll find a better one than Keane but maybe a young raw player might fit the finances better and be prepared to play 2nd fiddle.
Been having a look through some RBs out of contract in June. Clearly we need a reliable one ready for the start of the season. Ive no inside info just bored and been having a look!
Alan Hutton - Villa. Age 34. Maybe Lambert could talk him into it. Probably wishful thinking!
Conor Mclaughlin - Millwall. Age 27 decent league 1 experience.
John Brayford - Burton. Ex Shef Utd. Age 31 but had a very good season apparently.
Paul Caddis - Bradford. Age 31 Birmingham ledge. Bags of experience and a good crosser from what I can remember.
Nathan Thompson - Portsmouth. Age 28. Tough tackler Portsmouth will probably want to keep him.
Jack Grimmer - Coventry. Age 25. Aberdeen's youngest ever player before Fulham bought him. Good going forward and Coventry fans love him.
Wildcard: Gregory van der Wiel. Dutch age 27. Ex Ajax and PSG released by Toronto in MLS because of a row with the manager. Wages?
Just thinking about next season. Assuming we stick with a diamond, get rid of the obvious ones and dont sell anyone, I cant see the need for another squad overhaul - a few gaps to fill but nothing major.
Gk Bart Gerken (or Wright)
RB: + 1 Emmanuel
CB: Chambers Woolfenden Nsiala + 1(or Donacian?)
LB: Kenlock + 1
CDM: Skuse Downes
RCM: Bishop Nolan
LCM: Dozzell Huws Nydam
ACM: Judge Lankester Edwards (?)
CF Harrison Jackson Sears + 1 (Keane hopefully)
Hard not to feel positive with that squad under Lambert.
'We have before us an ordeal of the most grievous kind. We have before us many, many long months of struggle and of suffering. You ask, what is our policy? I will say: It is to wage war, by sea, land, and air, with all our might and with all the strength that God can give us; to wage war against a monstrous tyranny never surpassed in the dark, lamentable catalogue of human crime. That is our policy. You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word: It is victory, victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory, however long and hard the road may be.'
has become my most used expression at Portman Road, overtaking previous favourites, 'want the ball Skuse' and 'go on Fred'.
There is a guy behind me who goes for 'Spence is s**t' which is, of course, true but perhaps rather conflicts with the current attempts for positivity!
Grew up watching D'avray, Lowe, Atkinson and Chrissy K. We had Wilson and Goddard, Scowie, Johnson and Stewart. Bent, Pablo and Kuqi before Murphy and McGoldrick.
God knows we need something in the centre of the pitch. Would like to see if Edwards could provide a creative spark. Might not work but Id like to see it tried: Bart Penn Chambo Knudsen Ward Trevoh Doz Kenlock Edwards Sears Jackson
Klug - must be one of the biggest assets at the club. Knows the young players better than anyone. Dyer - great bit of development and would add a bit of profile. Win win?
Mick yearns for the premier league but for me, this outburst shows precisely why he is and will always be second tier manager.
In a moment of collective triumph for his team, staff and club Mick could only think about himself. He was consumed by self pity and the nasty boys who say mean things to him.
His manic reaction was equal to yelling at the world 'ME,ME - POOR ME'.
That moment wasnt and shouldnt have been about you Mick - it was about your club - the collective.
You should be able to handle one song that criticises you!
His painfully weak resilence to criticism leads to these embarrasing expressions of egotism which ultimately, affect his judgememt and decision making.
The fact he says 'the more you shout the less likely I will' clearly demonstrates he allows negative emotion to influence important decisions.
He does loads of things really well, team spirit, work rate, recruitment etc - all brillaint. But, until he can handle some stick and make objective decisions he wont be a premier league manager.
That and he thinks possession football is tippy tappy b******s!
