I wouldnt just narrow it down to COVID - the fact that the price of everything is steadily going up means that people have less to spend on going to football and cant justify the £25 or so for a ticket to a game at the moment. |
 | News Comment | Ipswich Town 2-5 Bolton Wanderers - Match Report at 17:34:35
I would like to think that, if that's the first 11, then they will all be playing again midweek in the cup, so that they get used to each other and start to gel. Reality is though that there will be more changes to unsettle a team that's already disjointed. The overall record since Cook came in is shocking and, apart from two or three signings, I'd actually say that the squad is weaker than last seasons. Probably not a discussion for this thread but also the lack of any academy product in the final 18 also worries me. |

We seem to be getting linked with everybody under the sun at the moment! Will take it all with a pinch of salt until closer to pre-season as, in order to be able to sign players, we are going to need to offload an awful lot of players first - otherwise we will be left with too many players to fit into the named squad before the season starts. Still remember getting linked to Gabriel Batistuta all those years ago and i dont think that turned out well :) |
 | News Comment | Owner Evans on Cook, Lambert and Takeover Talk at 10:07:20
To be fair to the man, there's not really much here that anybody can grumble about - although i'm sure some fans here will find a negative spin to it all. Everything he says is just sheer common sense - with very little money coming in and expenses still the same, the debt that the club has is only going to go up - the same as every other club in the land apart from the Premier League. As for the takeover by a US Pension Fund, the more i think about it the more i hope there's nothing in it as it makes me feel uncomfortable - and certainly not a long term solution. |

Interesting appointment. Not totally convinced by Mr Cook if im honest - hopefully i am proved wrong though. Be interesting to see where we go from here. A couple of bad results early on and no doubt his honeymoon period will be rather short........... |
 | News Comment | O'Neill: Lambert's Job is Safe at 15:09:23
blue86 - it certainly will! Always remember to enjoy the highs when they arrive as they can be a long time coming but only stay for a short period! |
 | News Comment | O'Neill: Lambert's Job is Safe at 14:10:27
blue86 - no, far from it. Ive been a season ticket holder since '88 so seen good times and bad times over the last 32 years. I am just trying to be realistic about where the club currently is. Its not as simple as saying its all ME's fault and everything would be fine if he wasnt here. The fact is that he is the clubs owner and finances the club every year with an eye-watering amount of money. Just think, if you won £100m on the lottery and brought ITFC, paying off the debts we owe, that would almost instantly wipe out your winnings, you'd be bankrupt overnight and the club would fold in the same way as others have recently. Quite a sobering thought............ |
 | News Comment | O'Neill: Lambert's Job is Safe at 12:47:14
Love logging on every day to read the comments from some supporters on here. People need to take a large dose of realism. We are currently a League One club. Nobody wants to be in this division, we want to be Championship at least. We were a relatively safe Championship club under MM but the fans hounded him out and got what they wanted in a young manager in Hurst. That didnt work out and we paid the ultimate price in relegation. Now we are in League One and the majority of fans think we have a god given right to be top of the table, knocking six goals past teams without reply each week and winning every game we play. Time to wake up and smell the roses - League One is not a walk in the park. Look at other clubs like Portsmouth, Hull, Sunderland, Charlton, Wigan, Blackpool and even Bolton. All former Premier League and Championship clubs now in L1 and L2. Some of those are lucky to still be in business and not disappear like Bury and Macclesfield. I feel that, in these current times, we are lucky to have an owner who can keep the club afloat and absorb the losses - he has thrown millions, in one way or another, at the club since he took over, in an effort to get us back up to the PL but to no avail. That can only last so long until such time as you have to step back and use the resources you have, which is now the situation we are in. We arent going to go out and spend 1m on a player - we need to sell to survive, we always have and we always will. Time to stop whinging and whining and back the club we all love by being positive. At the end of the day we are currently in the top six when we arent even playing that well, have a decent young team who are mostly ours rather than loans and a team that is trying to play passing football to the best of their ability. Im sure there will be lots of you that dont agree with anything ive written here but thats what football and this forum is all about - opinions!! |
 | News Comment | Young Quintet Left Out of Photo Call at 14:56:06
Come on people - get a grip! Its just a photo! The COVID limit of 30 people always meant that there would be players that would miss out - its simple maths at the end of the day. Now everybody is up in arms that these five have missed out - well somebody was always going to be missing due to our squad size. Guess if two of the five had been Chambers and Skuse then everybody would be celebrating and thinking that they were about to be shipped out. Fact is its just a photo that had a maximum number of people to it - now the world and his wife is reading everything into it. God this page gets boring with its anti ITFC comments sometimes............... |
 | News Comment | O'Neill: Sensible Position For Authorities to Take at 10:06:51
On a different note, for those of us who pay for our season tickets on a monthly basis, what will happen with the payments? As there are no games in April, will the payment still be taken at the start of the month as normal? Or will this be delayed also? Sorry for the ask but not seen anything about it and as you imagine, with work situations becoming more precarious, it may be a concern to many supporters. |
