 | Forum Thread | Season of pain… at 17:10 8 Mar 2025
I’ll preface this post by saying I’ve not completely given up hope of staying up. I do think we are capable of getting to 30pts… we’ve been close enough in plenty of games. However, it is unlikely and that may well not be enough anyway. However, this season was always going to be very hard and going down wouldn’t mean we don’t remain on an upward trajectory. We would be a strong side in the Champ with 2 parachute payments. Going up again we would be in a much better position. It is depressing to lose every week and difficult to keep perspective, but whatever happens this season, we remain a club on the up with a lot to be positive about. At the start of Cook’s last season, there were a few times I looked nervously at league 2… |

I wouldn’t be opposed to that approach, but we do need to offer more going forward or it’s a bit futile. Thought broadhead showed a bit more guile than many tonight. I’d be tempted to start him soon. |

Would never get one myself, but my step daughters’ dad is a Liverpool fan and I’m an Ipswich fan, so was nice for them to be able to get a scarf to please both of us. They got them after the game, 2 for £15 I did see a number of grown men wearing them in the ground during the game which I think is weird though. |

During the Coventry game, I genuinely wished I wasn’t interested in football or supported a team. The sense of relief when we went 2-0 up against Huddersfield was unbelievable. The feeling of impending doom just disappeared. Not anticipating similar stress levels next year… I feel like it’s almost a free hit tbh. |

FWIW he’s a big drifter with Skybet for the Chelsea job. 6/5 to 11/4. In fact, not favourite for any of manager jobs with them. I know the arguments about betting odds, but for comparison Kompany is 1/20 for the Bayern job. So still a way to go I reckon. |

I agree Hutchison and Davis. I also think maybe Hurst and Burns. Hurst holds it up so well and Burns is so direct. Not sure who else. Love Morsy, but think he will get caught out. Broadhead and Chaplin have seemed less effective as the season has gone on. The way we play it’s diff to know about our centre halves tbh. |

Though the most important statistic is obviously the score, if you have a look at the stats of their last 3 games then they arguably have been a bit lucky… |

The table on TWTD says it’s +24, BBC and Flashscore say it’s +23… |
 | Forum Thread | Bit more direct? at 11:55 15 Feb 2024
Anyone think we went a bit more direct more often from Hladky last night? Not saying we didn’t go short, just maybe not quite so often. Wonder if this is a slight change of approach due to mistakes or maybe I’m just imagining it! |

I look at it as, which player can we least do without. I would say the answer is Morsy… so I’d like to see a top quality defensive midfielder come in. After that I’d agree with centre forward as Hirst seems integral to how we play and we don’t seem to have a like for like replacement. |

Whenever there is a ‘scene’ like Britpop there’s always gonna be a load of rubbish hanging on the coat tails. There was a decent amount of good stuff that stands the test of time as well though I think. |
