 | News Comment | McKenna: Barbrook a Big Positive, Trio of Youngsters to Be Assessed Over the Next Month at 18:04:44
I think Barbrook had a great pre-season, maybe play him in the Bromley game and see what happens from there to decide whether to use him or loan him out. I would like to see Humphreys stay this season as I could see him being someone to come off the bench or be used in rotation with the tougher schedule. Baggott im not too sure on as with his injury last season we didnt get much chance to see him so probably another loan out with a view to a permanent move |
 | News Comment | Neom Linked With New Cajuste Approach at 17:10:00
I wish some people would just chill. I have full faith in McKenna, Ashton and co in getting the deals done before the end of the transfer window but because some people on here play too much FIFA or Football Manager or just don't understand how transfers work they think they can do a better job and moan why there isn't much movement in terms of people coming in Overall we built really strongly last year as I believe even then the club had a feeling they would be relegated and wanted to build strongly for the Championship/Premier league and this window we didn't need many people through the doors. In my eyes I still only think we need 1 more CM and 1 or 2 STs and I know McKenna is looking and wants to get it right instead of panic buying just to make up the numbers. Strikers has always been a harder position to fill as every club under the sun is always looking for a better/backup striker or 2 Yes we have had loads of links over the summer but as with every club this happens every year as agents use "links" to some clubs to increase their clients stock and make them more lucrative to higher bidders. How do you know that the club doesn't currently have 2 or 3 deals on the table? I will only listen to the club (and Romano) about deals and am more than happy to wait for them to announce it when the deal actually happens And at the end of the day its also down to the club and the players whether the deal gets accepted or if they want to move. Their could be a number of reasons why a player doesn't want to join such as the contract not good enough, not wanting to relocate to another part of the country (or even another country), they might want to stay near family, they enjoy playing for their current club, they might not see us as a viable destination, might have a new club in mind they want to join and being a side just relegated they might be thinking "will that happen again when they return to the Premier League". Then of course their is the agents that usually ruin the deals because they want money and often in the case of younger talent can sway them away from joining us Also don't forget we are only allowed a limit of 25 players (over 21) and as it currently stands we are currently at 28 so the club will also be working on any loans/sales out I would be more than happy with the players that played the most during the pre-season in the opening game against Birmingham (and Bromley), just have a bit of faith and patience and the last few deals will come in |
 | News Comment | AJ Auxerre 0-3 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 19:44:15
Hopefully the knocks to Townsend and Jaden weren't too bad. Overall great pre-season, team seem to be gelling really well and the likes of AAH have stepped up their game (maybe shaving the hair helped). Now the pre-season is out the way hopefully we can get the last pieces, 1 CM (Cajuste) and 1 or 2 ST (but based on pre-season would be happy with AAH as 3rd choice), of the puzzle in place but overall I would be more than happy taking this team into the Birmingham (and Bromley) games Looking forward to Friday and the new season COYB |
 | News Comment | Town Women Sign Midfielder Dear at 19:54:51
The womens team getting even stronger from what was already an already strong side. Looking forward to seeing them in the WSL2 and giving it a good go. Im predicting mid table this season (7th or 8th) and then build on that even more. Its going to be a tough league but I know they will be more than up for the challenge |
 | News Comment | Blues Target Guiu Closing in On Sunderland Loan at 17:24:57
Shame but it always seemed like he wasn't going to come down to the Championship anyway, but we move on I wouldn't mind giving Kone from Wycombe a shout, reckon he could be a great one to come off the bench when the opposition defence is getting tired |
 | News Comment | Town Women Re-Sign Doe on Permanent Deal at 20:34:14
YES, I was hoping after the past 2 seasons Doe has had that we would sign her permanently. Technically the 4th signing as Seaby last season was also a dual registration with Arsenal and was offered a contract when the other mass contracts were done |
 | News Comment | Town and Boro Agree Hackney Fee at 23:03:51
Hackney and Matusiwa as the two in the middle (one more pace and probably box to box and one more defensive minded) and then Humphreys and Taylor to come off the bench YES PLEASE |
 | News Comment | McKenna: Hirst Primed For Good Season at 20:15:36
I reckon Hirst is going to tear up the league this season with both assists and goals. His previous link up with Chappers, Broady and Omari was amazing and now he can also link up with Smzods, Jaden and Jack our attack line is looking very strong Still could do with 1 or 2 strikers for those off the bench moments and rotation to keep Hirst fresh. I'm thinking an experienced striker on a 1 or 2 year deal who is happy to come off the bench to make a difference or be used in rotation (thinking in the mould of Kieffer Moore) and then a younger striker who wants to come in a learn the game (from Hirst and the older striker) but also gives us a fresh option off bench (maybe a loan). Plus there is also the academy strikers (Buabo and Taylor are 2 I think are ready) who could come up to learn a few things and get some minutes (while also not counting to the 25 limit) |
 | News Comment | Town Confirm Young Signing at 19:43:16
Not massively excited about this one BUT he does bring a lot of experience to a quite young defence, can still go even at 40 and did very well with a struggling Everton last season. Im sure he's not going to be first pick for every game and gives good backup to both left and right back positions, just wondering if this means someone going out on loan (possibly Clarke). And if it doesn't work out, contract is only for a year |
 | News Comment | Fourteen Sign Contracts Ahead of WSL2 Campaign at 18:41:18
Great that so many of the core team from last season have resigned and with the couple of new signings already confirmed, looking forward to their first season in the Championship. Great that Seaby has joined permanently (she was a dual registration with Arsenal last season), is their any word on Kaci Bonwick as she was offered one too and after the amazing debut she had on the final game of the season, hope we keep hold of her too |
 | News Comment | Town Women to Host Villa U21s in Friendly at 18:32:11
@Mark they are probably mainly doing the friendlies at the Felixstowe ground because of Colchesters fixtures, will also be nice to give the ground a couple more games as a send off. But will be interesting to see where the cup games will be held as they don't need to adhere to the same requirements that the league games will |
 | News Comment | Blues Among Clubs Linked With Liverpool Youngster at 17:46:37
This one confuses me. I know I don't see all the same info and data that the likes of McKenna and the recruitment team see but I don't see any difference between this lad and Humphreys. I would rather trust in one of our own that had an amazing season last year and also has had more game time and even some Championship experience. Only benefit I see is that he wouldn't count towards the squad limit. But I am more than happy to be proven wrong and if McKenna see's something in him it would be good to see what this lad can do |
 | News Comment | McKenna: A Fair Bit Left in the Summer, I Think There'll Be Movement in Both Directions at 22:03:32
Always love how open Mckenna and the rest are about these sort of subjects. They acknowledge that there are still some transfers to go and just because we don't hear anything for a bit (besides links and rumours) doesn't mean that they ain't working hard to try get someone. We shouldn't be signing someone just to make up the numbers and they probably have been working on a couple of deals its just the details haven't quite been ironed out. I have faith that the correct signings will come in when the deals are done and happy to wait until the club announces it In my eyes there isn't much left to do as we came down with a very strong squad its now just a matter of finding those final couple that are ready to take the step up to the Premier League when we are back there again. I feel like we just now need: 1 CM (2 at a push) 2 ST Even if Hutchinson does leave we have plenty of good cover in that position I would like to see Baggott and Humphreys get a chance this season and maybe even some of the U21s like Boniface and Buabo Don't forget we only have a limit of 25 players (discluding any U21s) currently at 26 with the following: GK - Palmer, Walton, Button (Loan out Slicker, sell Muric) RB - H Clarke, Johnson (O Shea, Woolfy and Kipre can also play here if needed) CB - O Shea, Woolfy, Greaves, Kipre, Baggott LB - Davis, Townsend (Greaves, Johnson and Kipre can also here if needed) CM - Matusiwa, Taylor, Humphreys, NEW CM RW - Burns, Ogbene, Jaden (assuming Hutchinson leaves) AM - Chappers, Szmods, Broady LW - J Clarke, Jaden, Broady ST - Hirst, NEW ST 1, NEW ST 2 (sell Al Hamadi) |
 | News Comment | Blau-Weiß Linz 1-2 Ipswich Town - Half-Time at 18:31:28
Great to see the likes of Humphreys and Baggott playing well and Hirst showing the threat he is going to be. Looking forward to seeing what the 2nd half team do Also @flykick he is Fin Barbrook from the U21s. He's a midfielder, we also used to have his twin brother Harry but he was released this summer |
