Interesting that first half they played everything down their left/our right and we shut them out with great displays by Tuanzabe and Johnson. Then second half, from the off they pursued our left side and got their reward immediately making Leif looking lost as he has done all season. As soon as he was replaced by Townsend we looked so much more solid and balanced in defence. He has to be our first choice left back going forward.
Anyhow, chuffed to bits with that display and the lads should be too. I thought Johnson and Palmer were both superb today.
No complaints from me. Very frustrating late goal but that’s what being a Town fan is like.
Certainly seemed to be maximum effort from most. Another big mistake from Davis almost gifted them a goal but thankfully Palmer was on hand. I really don’t know why we continue with Davis when it is clear Townsend is by far a better LB and Davis is way out of his depth at this level as a defender or a wing back.
I think the writing is still on the wall. Cannot see anything but relegation sadly but like many I have accepted this and I’m looking forward to the Championship again.
Possibly our most committed team performance of the season.
I’d like to see a few more of those players given more of a chance for the rest of this season. Defensively we looked much, much better. Townsend HAS to replace Davis from herein. He’s had several starts and every times looks so much better than Davis.
Really encouraging showing tonight and fantastic penalties too.
Yes we are all well aware how far we have come but none of us wanted to be promoted just to be the whipping boys. May as well just spent fook all and gone down a very rich club.
Odd starting lineup with only a three man defence against the League Champions.
They are a superb side and sadly we are nothing more than a decent Championship side that got promoted far too soon. Hopefully we will learn from this season and return stronger and better organised with FAR more experience. That’s what we are seriously lacking.
Certainly since Mariner for me. Stewart was quality but the Premier League standard has come on massively since then and when Mariner was at the top of his game I think that English football was at its peak at that time so I class Mariner ahead of Marcus.
During this modern era I cannot think of a better English centre forward. I fear he will only be with us for a short period but I believe he is the new Harry Kane and said it when I saw him play our first game for us. If he can keep his head down he has a massive international future ahead of him I think.
Hopefully he can help keep us up and then if opportunities come his way I wouldn’t blame him for moving on.
