This is why I enjoy watching Big Match Revisited on ITV4. They're showing matches from 75/76 season at the moment. I don't think they've shown Ipswich yet but I'm keen to see any footage of our team and how they played in the years before winning the FA Cup. It really was a completely different game 50 years ago. Newcastle thrashing Norwich yesterday and Eric Morecambe smoking a pipe watching Luton. Marvellous.
Yesterday in my local Tescos I heard 2 loud blokes in the next aisle. "I see you're selling Mbeumo then" "Yeah but we're getting Omari Hutchinson. No worries. We're not Fulham."
If he goes to a team in the bottom half of the Premiership which I'm pretty sure Brentford will be now then I think he will have a similar 'mixed' season like he did with us last season and he'll level off in value. In the long term he's best off with us to prove he can be a consistent goalscorer & assister over a season but if he wants to go now £40M should get us another central midfielder & striker.
I would have thought at least one of the clubs that qualified for Europe would have met his release clause. If that's not happened he's better off staying here and having a storming season improving with us.
