TWTD Questionnaire 2020/21

Q7 Young player of the 2020/21 season?

We felt it was a little unfair to include a None of the above option in the Young Player of the Year category. We also limited it to players who had appeared in League One given the number of youngsters who were involved in the Papa John's Trophy.

Armando Dobra wins by a street after some exciting displays during a season when he was in and out of the first-team picture. Often, the Albania U21 international seemed too desperate to impress when he got in the team and tried to do too much but seemed to relax more into the side in the latter stages of the season.

As such, it was perhaps a surprise to learn that he has been told he can move on this summer. However, if his quotes to the Albanian media when he was on international duty recently are anything to go by, he's determined to come back to Town at the start of pre-season and convince Paul Cook he should be in his plans. And the best of luck to him.

Andre Dozzell had his first really long spell in the side in 2020/21 but evidently didn't do enough to impress Cook and he is, at the time of writing, closing in on a move to QPR.

A switch away from Town to a club where his name doesn't lead to the same levels of expection and scrutiny might be the best thing for him after a number of frustrating years at Portman Road. That's not to say it won't be disappointing to see a talented local boy with such Town heritage depart.

Exciting words from Dobra, hopefully Cook will change his mind as I feel he could become one of the first names on the team-sheet.
