A dominant Ipswich pick up a much needed 3 points. A professional 1st half performance saw them 2 goals to the good at half time. The 1st came from a break after Forest Green’s only meaningful foray into Town territory during the 1st 45 minutes. David was released on the left, his cross wa blocked out to Ladapo whose shot was blocked but fell invitingly to Harness who rifled home from 15 yards. In 2nd half injury time MOrsy doubles the advantage with a stunning strike from 25 yards into the keepers top left corner after being set up by Chaplin.
Town seems comfortable in the 2nd half until David was caught out of position and the home side pulled one back despite efforts from Walton. Forest Green then had a goal disallowed and forced Walton into two fine saves in quick succession as the sensed an equaliser. Town held on and saw the remainder of the game out quite comfortably and could have increased their lead to make the game safe.

Town looked dangerous today and created plenty of opportunities, but once again are susceptible to take their foot off the gas for short periods which allows other teams back into the game. The need to be more clinical in front of goal is evident. Harness, Davis & Ladapo all improved on their performances last week as they settle into the side, whilst Burgess was solid enough replacing the ill Woolfenden, but still has a tendency to get caught on the wrong side of attackers and turned too easily which is a slight worry.

Happy with the 3 points , wouldn’t it be nice if we could pick up a cup win on Tuesday!!

Solid 1st half . Fell assunder after they scored. We need to up our game. High press everyone and then use the bench. Burns looks jaded. Heart and drive is the ingredient we need to up. Then we will be unbeatable. 💙

Apart from a wobbly few minutes after they scored it was more comfortable than the scoreline suggests. I think Leigh and Jackson give us more than Davis & Ladapo at the moment. Might be worth starting with them.

After seeing Liverpool struggle for a point at Fulham, to put our game in perspective:-
We were Effective, Efficient and Good on the ball and without it. Completely dominated the proceedings and got all three points so a great day out at the Magic Lantern Lawn. So may it continue MoM Morsy easy!

People are a little tough on Kayden Jackson. I've never been his biggest fan, but he was working his socks off in chasing and pressuring FG defenders who had the ball and tracking back to win back lost balls. I'm very happy with his role in the match.

Greg Leigh is by far our best left back/wing back. Davis has to improve if he wants to keep his place

I listened to the game via IPlayer as am on holiday in Greece. Really pleased with the result and thoroughly deserved from what I could tell from the commentary however I am afraid that this is where my gripe is. The commentary was not a patch on Brennar and Mick Mills. Not enough description on what is happening and very little critique of how Ipswich played. As a fan I want to hear peoples views on what they see good and bad. Matt Holland is os scheduled to do 5 or so games which is great news but I so miss the old team and also Alex Mathie for some of the away games.

If the iFollow audio coverage doesn’t get a little more insightful, I am likely to cancel my subscription. The iFollow commentator said that Matt Holland will be doing several matches in the future so that is a good sign - but does Matt Holland watch many Town matches? I assume the commentator is employed by the club so no one will be allowed to comment on the form of a player or criticise managers tactics or selection. I paid for the commentary and I have no idea how well any of the town players did. In fact for the first 10 minutes I thought I was listening to a very bland, amateur away team commentator and our guys must be still eating their vegan burgers or got lost on the nature walk. Brenner said he was still going to be on Radio Suffolk (I assume that is the case). I know the club want their own TV service and are moving towards that, so I guess we just have to accept that independent coverage will be a thing of the past. Just don’t have a current squad player as the summariser! The reserve keeper was awful! Hope he is better between the sticks than in the commentary box! But not totally his fault, it was as if he had a list of prepared and vetted comments in front of him. I have always thought that Brenner is one of the BBCs best commentators and I have no idea why he is still only doing local radio. And with someone like Mick Mills next to him, I really looked forward to the commentary if I couldn’t get to the game. Total professionalism.
