Ipswich Town 2 v 2 Derby County EFL Championship Saturday, 30th August 2025 Kick-off 15:00 | ![]() |
Johnny_Boy7 added 18:10 - Aug 30 Town took 15 minutes to get going after quite a spell of pressure from County. The goal from Greaves was a bit scrappy but well deserved. Town claimed a penalty when the ball hit the arm of a Derby defender as he slid along the ground on the edge of the 6 yard box. The irony of that being turned down by Mr Doughty, the official, was put into stark relief when awarded a penalty to Derby for a similar event about 5 minutest into the second half. The penalty was driven home enthusiastically by Carlton Morris for the equaliser. The game became very scrappy with lots of niggly fouls and time wasting. The referee somehow missed an obvious penalty when Hurst had his legs taken away from him. Predictably after 65 minutes KM made his usual tripple substitution, taking off the guile and quick thinking of Connor Chaplin and the height of Hurst presumably to rest for the international break. Within the minute Derby were ahead through a well taken strike following a defensive error. Town were out of sorts and frustrated by the poor refereeing decisions and Eustace's team's delaying tactics. Fortunately the ref had taken note of the time wasting and also spotted one of the many fouls to award town a slightly undeserved penalty. Clarke Johnny_Boy7 added 18:12 - Aug 30 Jack Clarke despatched the spot kick with aplomb and more confidence than most of the crowd were feeling. The ref blew for time shortly afterwards. Cookieboy added 19:21 - Aug 30 Derby manager whinging about the length of time added on, surely he can't have any complaints because of his time wasting tactics. Standing on foot and holding there head a fine example of cheating !!!! Linkboy13 added 20:52 - Aug 30 With so many new players coming in it's going to take several games to get them integrated into the system but we need to do it quickly otherwise we could be out of the automatic positions. Cajuste showed signs he could be massive in this division. Philogene still hasn't convinced me he does his little tricks on the ball but rarely beats his man and ends up digging a hole for himself. At the moment i prefer Jack Clarke who is more direct and does beat his man with no histrionics but is very inconsistent.
