terryball2012 added 19:48 - Sep 29 I thought it was a reasonable performance against a poor side but we really still need to kill teams off when 2 up after 25 minutes. Concerned about the continuing low crowds and this will only change with a run of good results both home and away. Nothing to judge Gerken on but I feel that Loach is the better of the two at present. I would also like to see Hewitt in the side somewhere at some stage this season.MM seems not keen to have youngsters in the team which rather suggests Academy is never going to give us new players coming through. dalianwasexciting added 16:13 - Oct 1 Another trip down from Yorkshire, and well worth the trip - particularly in the first half. Started well with a nice range of beers in the Mulberry Tree and some convivial chat with Mr Slegg! We seemed a solid unit, granted Brighton did not show much in attacking intent but there are signs that the team spirit of this team can deliver. Gerken - Still not sure, seemed to not want to come for anything, although after Wigan that is perhaps to be expected. Chambers - Not a right back but able to play there, he is a real winner and captains superbly - the end of game fist pump is as much part of a win as the result itself! Cresswell - Not his best game, but still looks assured on the ball, was involved in one awesome passage of quick passing in the second half. Berra - Big and strong, a proper centre half. Smith - more evidence that he is the rock than can be built upon. Anderson - Worked hard and looks a decent buy, I was a bit surprised when he was taken off. Hyam - For me a disappointment, despite work still seems unable to play a forward pass. Skuse - A good signing, reliable and dependable with time on the ball. Tunnicliffe - I like him a lot, what a signing he would be, saw a number of powerful bursts, has a touch of the Gerrards about him! Murphy - huffed and puffed but was largely ineffectual. McGoldrick - stand out match winner, who is playing with the confidence to match his ability. Subs - Wordsworth - not on long enougb to make an impact and came on to a formation with only one striker left on. Nouble - Runs around a lot, but seems to lack any purpose. Edwards - Still has it, but only for short bursts, strectched Brighton when he came on with some good off ball runs and had a couple of efforts which could have caused problems had he kept them down. All in all a workmanlike performance, a shame we seemed to take our foot off the gas in the second half. You need to log in to participate in Your Report | Your Report
