God Save The Queen ! on 18:32 - May 28 by Dolly2.0
Clearly not, I work in advertising!
Anyway, let's get back to my question. What has Philip done that is "hard work" since marrying the Queen?
He's written 14 books, set up the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme, was President of the World Wildlife Foundation, patron of God knows how many charities etc etc etc. His days have been pretty full mate.

Yeah, I bet he did all that on his own.
I am with J2 because he's right. The concept of a 'royal' family in this day and age is a ridiculous one to me, but hey ho, many things that go on seem beyond crazy so what do I know.
Queenie is a good 'ol girl, no two ways about it. When she's a gonner, the rest should go with her.
(When I say 'go with her' I mean the whole 'royal' thing. I don't want them all murdered or anything).

Possibly the principle of a royal family should go after her.
I just dislike how some people hate her so much. It's not her fault she was born into royalty. And she has not stopped working at any stage in 75 years so fair play to her.

The queen was patron of an organisation I have worked for.
That involved her doing nothing. Literally nothing.

I can think of no reason for anyone to hate her. At least not British nationals. She has served the nation as she promised, and came to the throne, (as I have said many times), in an era when the concept still made some sense, and served a purpose.

How much of that did he actually do and wasn't done on his behalf? By staff paid for by us.
I suspect you're not that naive, so I can only assume you're being disingenuous again.
It's a dirge that says nothing to me about the country I live in. I don't believe in God or the concept of a monarchy. Give me Jerusalem any day of the week. William Blake's stirring words.
And did those feet in ancient time Walk upon England's mountains green? And was the holy Lamb of God On England's pleasant pastures seen? And did the Countenance Divine Shine forth upon our clouded hills? And was Jerusalem builded here Among these dark Satanic mills? Bring me my bow of burning gold: Bring me my arrows of desire: Bring me my spear: O clouds unfold! Bring me my chariot of fire. I will not cease from mental fight, Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand Till we have built Jerusalem In England's green and pleasant land.
She has her job and we have ours. And I don't see many of us working hard into our 90s.
Maybe in a few decades will be the right time to consider a change in our national constitution, but certainly not now, we already have enough instability with Brexit looming, Trump in the White House, terrorism at the level it is etc. The most important thing about our monarchy for me is the stability it brings, the thought of who *could* be elected as President of the UK is horrifying - Boris Johnston anyone?!
Why is it any attempt at normal discussion only seems to come from those who aren't stuck in the playground?
It's embarrassing. Stop it.
He's got a point tho, TWTD forum has this discussion about 4 times a year every year with the usual suspects (incl myself) going over the same old arguments from the same old trenches with nobody ever shifting position, except I have slightly - I think the constitution could, maybe should, be re-examined in perhaps a couple of decades' time if the UK and world are in a more stable position then. But it's a pointless waste of time now, so basically I agree with J2, we'll just have to agree to disagree.
As for Dolly's point re work - I can only say that I personally would far rather dig ditches or clean lavs for 12 hours a day than have to put on a public face with a fixed smile shaking endless hands of people who can't possibly relate to me for my own self, in a goldfish bowl, photographed non-stop, when I'm feeling like sh1t, tired, longing to switch off for 5 mins on my own with a book. And that's in my 60s, never mind 90s. I'd find her job 10 times more exhausting, unpalatable, and wouldn't do it if you paid me a £million a year. And she had no choice, it was drummed into her from toddlerhood that that was her absolute obligation and duty. She deserves a bloody medal for her discipline, sense of responsibility and duty carried out, & has my utmost respect for that, cos I know 100% its not something I could ever do.

So we all agree the queen has done a great job. Everyone has said the same.
And that no one in their right mind any longer believes in a monarchy looking forwards.
Matey doesn't have a point. He's using childish insults, by his own admission, because it goes against what some others have said. No other reason.
So what you're trying to reason escapes me on this occasion.

I'd sing that.
You don't believe in God, but you're OK with "the holy Lamb of God" and "the Countenance Divine"?! ;)

Those that hate her also support Jezza, funny that as he doesnt like the Queen either.
