It's funny how quickly... on 16:40 - Sep 13 with 11931 views | J2BLUE | I don't know why people bother to go on the attack over one person's view when it's clearly going to pass. Not everyone is going to agree with it unfortunately and it's not really worth the time and effort arguing with them when they are going to end up on the losing side anyway.

Many traditional religious values are under attack by secularists and progressives. Pretty sure the Royal Family will have a "new scaled back" role once Prince Charles passes on to William. [Post edited 13 Sep 2017 16:44]

Good, hopefully a big step on the way to a republic.

In this case is it a bad thing?

In my opinion, yes. | |

It's funny how quickly... on 16:54 - Sep 13 with 11876 views | JakeITFC | I'm kind of split on this. I think people who have faith are getting a rough time at the moment personally. Loads of stuff going round, for example, about the storms in the US atm and people asking for prayers etc. and getting called dumb. It just seems unnecessary. On the other side though, I think that being against gay marriage is a really selfish thing to do, and it is important that things bills like this pass.

Although I wouldn't abuse them I would think it was incredibly stupid to ask for prayers when their god could have prevented it in the first place. It's like when someone has a heart attack or something, get worked on by a medical team for hours and then thank god for keeping them alive.

Or alternatively society has seen the light and upon realisation, have adapted?

Why is that stupid though? It's a comfort blanket, and way of making people feel better.

Maybe i'm being harsh but it's completely illogical and as you say, a way for them to feel better not something that actually helps. The disconnect which allows them to believe god could intervene but didn't bother doing so before it happened is just something I find unbelievable.

No.. I agree with gay marriage. What are your reasons for not? Other than that the church/bible tells you not to..

Yes, the majority agree with gay marriage. Hence the rage when JRM gives his honest opinion on daytime TV.

Strongly religious people are some of the most deluded individuals you will ever meet. Brought up in a cocoon and bring their kids up in the same cocoon.
It's funny how quickly... on 19:08 - Sep 13 with 11515 views | MarcFowler | It's really simple for me - if you don't want to have a gay marriage, don't. But you don't get to impose YOUR religion on everyone else. Your book tells you that you can't eat shellfish and can't wear clothes made of more than one material? Great, live your life by those things. But you don't get to impose that on anybody else. How Australia is debating this in 2017 is beyond me. It's not even a binding vote! It's costing them millions! Madness.

It's not a binding vote but the result will be respected.

Marriage is based in religion, certainly in this country.

Does anyone know the stats on how many people still support the death penalty? I know that for years after it was abolished it still enjoyed majority support.
