Sorry if I've missed this elsewhere already but did anyone else notice Hyam saying what looked like "f*ck off" to the lower tier as he walked off today? Any idea if that was aimed at anyone in particular or just in general? Felt like a few of the players looked pretty pissed off at the support at the end. Fwiw, thought Hyam looked v short of match sharpness initially but seemed to grow into the game as it went on.

He did what he does well, but just showed once again how limited he is. Will never be a regular in a promotion chasing team, though I can see an argument for keeping him for the squad.

He WAS a regular in a promotion chasing team in 2014/15.....

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

13 starts and 3 sub appearances. 1 league appearance after November. Debatable how regular that is.

I recall someone posting on here that he thought that Skuse and Hyam were the best central midfield pairing in the Championship!

One of the most limited footballers I have ever clapped eyes on, makes Robbie Savage look like Pele.

I was more worried by Bart’s expression as he walked to the tunnel.
A mixture of sadness and scorn as the fans laid into McCarthy.
Great way to encourage our best player to stay.

One appearance after November - we were terrible 2nd half of season. Coincidence?

He was injured after that wasn't he though? Certainly he was a part of the good form in November and December 2014. MM played two of Skuse, Hyam and Tabb and let them make space for someone more creative.

If he told them to Foxtrot Oscar, it was probably deserved.

Or he could have been aiming it at the Brentford fans who were booing him every time he got the ball.

FWIW I thought he was one of our better players today. We did miss Skuse though.

can you imagine the meltdown if Bart doesnt sign his new contract and states publicly he doesnt want to stay at the club where the fans treat them like this..... some people have no idea how much this sort of thing can impact professional sports players.....

Funny how it all went south when he was absent

Ha, no actually that's probably just a coincidence. He's ok though compared to some of the dross we've had in the last 7 years.

Well we went on a ridiculously good run without him over that Christmas period so I would say...yes. McGoldricks loss was a key contributor to our latter season form, and having a small squad that clearly was running out of steam.

I’m not anti Hyam, but lets not kid ourselves that he’s got the potential to be anything more than an alright championship plodder. Regardless of the reasons (injury etc) it’s a push to say he’s ever been a ‘regular’.
