What was the first Town game you saw live? 11:48 - Apr 15 with 26220 viewsKeno

I'm feeling a little melancholy so lets all take a trip down memory lane

Me

August 1974 Ipswich 2 Burnley 0

Walking into the North Stand it was the amazing place I'd ever been to, the most amazing feeling of belonging to something that was vey special

I may have been spoilt by watching that team and that era

Mine is a bit of a mystery. It would have been about 1988 or 1989, I think. I am sure it was Ipswich Town 5 Bristol City 1. But I can find no record of it, or anything similar.

Anyone got any ideas?

November 85, lost 4-3 at home to Everton. Got tickets through Tommy Parkin so were in the good seats at the top of the Pioneer (as it was then).

Was a couple of years before I got taken to another match, the view of PR under floodlights was atmospheric in a way that just doesn't exist any more with the brightly lit (missing bulbs excepted) ground now.

The first Town I saw live was Bishops Stortford where I was born.

Mum carried me out of the hospital, I opened my eyes and there it was!

The best game I'm yet to witness watching town live unfortunately!

Sheff Utd 4 Ipswich 3 fa cup 200....3 I think it was.

I was unfortunately on the Blade Kop with my mate / his cousin ( a blade ) and they thought they were very funny going on about the Bent duo of Marcus and Darren all afternoon.

Gave out an almighty GET IN at 3-3

November 17th 1984 - Ipswich Town 0-3 Tottenham Hotspur

Being a goalkeeper I always admired Paul Cooper he was my Town hero at the time, but Spurs had Ray Clemence in goal so spoilt for choice that evening!

Just remember walking up the steps in the Pioneer Stand behind my Dad and Grandad and being transfixed by how green the pitch looked under lights. I stood in the stairwell for a few seconds just gobsmacked - That memory will live with me until I die!!!

Don't know if it was my first ever match or even if it was first team or reserves but my first memory is of Jack Parry playing in goal against Plymouth in 1954 or 1955 when I was aged 3 or 4.

Funnily enough my first ever game I ever went to was circa 73/74 WHU v Ipswich.

When I moved to Suffolk I think my first game was v Derby around 75/76

I think Ipswich lost both games one nil but the memory fades.

I tried to get on TMWMTT but I've forgotten my blooming login details

We beat Stoke 5-1 around then, Baltacha's debut.

1984 Sunderland home, won 1-0 courtesy of Russell Osman. The Sunderland fans went a bit mad after the game, climbing on cars and generally pratting around posturing and stuff.

First away game was 1986 v Watford. Boring 0-0 draw.

That’s the first match I can remember anyway.

March 1967 v Portsmouth. Colin Viljoens debut when he scored a Hat rick. Remember standing on a stool at the front of Churchmans with my Dad behind me. Remember nothing else about being 7 but I do remember that.

Think we won 4-2.

I think it's still going but not being updated, I had my login details refreshed by them a few months back.

I know it's a lot of work but it would have been handy if TWTD had taken it over or merged.

Cant remember the actual game but started going with my dad & granddad in 1976

I can remember carrying my milk crate to stand on and getting there early so we could get our spot in churchman's just behind the goal next to the barrier

The European nights queuing outside of churchman's hours before kick off
